I did a fair bit of research on which hotel would be the best, and Kayakapi Premium Caves made all the lists. Still it was hard to imagine how spectacular it would be because the prices were so reasonable!
After booking, Nihal from the front desk contacted us and helped us navigate all the airport transfers, balloon ride, guided tours and restaurant options in the area. She was incredible helpful and responsive even on her days off, and so we felt very comfortable that we were in good hands.
But it wasn’t until we arrived that I could fully understand the beauty of this property and its rooms. We splurged for a room with a pool and hamam, which were both wonderful. But I truly think that any room on this property would be special as the grounds, pool, spa etc are places that you would never want to leave. Indeed, we revised our itinerary just to spend more time at the hotel.
The restaurant, Revithia, should get a Michelin star. Don’t be afraid of the prix fix- you can not be disappointed! We had 8 courses with wine pairings and sat outside on the terrace overlooking the valley. Every course had historic importance explained to us by our incredible server.
One detail to note- prior to booking I had a concern about not being in Gorheme because it seemed as if that was were most things were located. After being there, I am SO GLAD that we were in Urgup!! Gorge me is easy to get to but also quite crowded and touristy and so we had a much better experience in Urgup.
