Avoid at all cost
Fraudulent place, false advertising on having a pool (they dont) or spa (also closed) or multilingual staff (no english speaking). Also had food poisoning and spent 2 days on hospital.

Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the view from the room. Furniture is a bit worn out but everything functions well. Though u need to walk a bit to the sports club, the equipment there is not disappointing. Overall is good.

The assistance service was good, fully operational at any time. Gym and swimming pool was available, easy access to the mall without having to go outside to cross the street. The city view was good. Some furniture need replacement (aging). Not enough channels on the cable TV. I didn't see any sanitizer at all, not in the room, not at the breakfast restaurant.

This is only true 5 star hotel in ulaanbaatar... great location. linked to shopping mall. Great chinese restaurant... You will need one after few days of Ger experience here.

Highly recommend it
Beautiful hotel, great staff. Centrally located it's a walking distance from the main square. There is mall with a few restaurants next to it so if you need to shop or have a traditional mongolian food then you can just walk to the mall. The breakfast was good too. Highly recommend it.

The room is nice and very comfortable. Furnitures not as tip top as other Shangri la hotels but definitely the best hotel in Ulaanbaator. Staffs are very friendly and approachable. Thumbs up!

Beautiful property, amazing staff Possibly the most helpful, accommodating staff we’ve EVER encountered. FedEx delivery on Monday failed, so numerous staff members made phone calls & kept up with tracking. When departing Mongolia on Wed. morning, the hotel driver took us to FedEx office, then to cargo area at ULN. He went above & beyond as translator & negotiator, helped get our package & got us to our flight on time. Well done! Property is beautifully maintained with lovely public spaces. Deluxe room with king bed was spacious with lots of drawer & closet space and bathroom counter space. Climate control was iffy. Laundry service was reasonably priced & good quality. Impressively prompt service when calling housekeeping for additional clothes hangers and maintenance for a minor issue with television. Speaking of TV, they have a good selection of channels. Housekeeping service was exemplary. Cafe Park breakfast buffet featured nice variety of western & Asian dishes; very attentive service. Nadaam restaurant had generous portions but service was quite poor. Bartenders, however, were attentive so subsequent visits were to bar area only. Their Chinese restaurant, Hutong, was a special treat! Delicious Peking duck & fantastic service. Great central location for walking to shopping and sights. Overall, a wonderful place to spend five days/four nights and the warmth & kindness of the front desk staff and driver makes this one of our best hotel experiences ever!

Love the fitness center..onsite Chinese restaurant was superb and the lounge on 21st floor was magnificent. The views from there was amazing. I would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Tatum Sharda. Whenever I needed special attention he was there. Thanks a million.

Stay in Ulaanbaatar? This is the one for sure!
If you travel to Ulaanbaatar, you don’t need to spend too much time researching on where to stay — the Shangri-La Hotel in the city centre is a no-brain choice. For the past many years, I’ve stayed and/or dined at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore (where the first Shangri-La Hotel was founded by the super-rich Asian Kuok families, who also happened to be my former employer), London, and of course Hong Kong. The Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar is no difference from its five-star sister hotels elsewhere. At the second when you step into the lobby, you may be surprised how familiar everything feels like — the layout of lobby floor, background music, and even the unique Shangri-La indoor fragrance. Hotel staff are nice and speak very good English, and there is a Chinese restaurant called Hutong where you can even find Peking duck in Mongolia. I have free and exclusive access to the Club Lounge where you can have an awesome 360 degree view of the city centre. Everything from the "State House", aka the central government office building, to ancient temples or modern public libraries, and the first Irish bar in Mongolia (located in “walking street for bars and restaurants”), are all within your sight -- and walk too. Traffic in Ulaanbaatar is not so desirable, so walking can actually save you a lot of time. The only small complaint about the hotel is still about traffic. It's hard to find taxi in the morning, so you shall arrange cars in advance.

The staff was top notch, always attentive and polite , but never over doing it . Location is conviently close to the city center but also allows to exit the city without going through traffic. A large shopping center close by. Comfortable gym and spa.

Wonderful stay - highly recommended!
Loved the shangri-la. It really was a terrific hotel and far above the standard hotel in UB. It was easy for them to arrange private taxi to and from the airport and they were wonderful in catering to my every request. The gym was also amazing! Hug, spacious and very new equipment. Breakfast was standard for an international hotel. Overall, my time at the shangri-la made for a very pleasant experience.

Promised to bring extra bed but waited a few hours before they brought it, checkout was slow and some staff don't understand English. My Son got food poisoning from the buffet at the hotel. Not a good experience

Service was below par for an international 5 star hotel, staff clearly cannot cope with the demands of international standards. There is a lot of inefficiencies like waiting for them to bring an extra bed and waiting 2 hrs for staff to open interconnecting door for my family. To TOP it all, my Son got food poisoning from the buffet at the hotel, a very bad experience. They don't deserve 5 stars

Love the Ulaan Baatar Shangr-La
This is easily the best hotel in Mongolia and well coated in central Ulaan Baatar. New and modern with a Mongolian ambiance. Very attentive and professional staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Well heated, important when its 40 below out.

New hotel already a landmark
While the Shangri-La Hotel has only been open a few months, strides are being taken to continually improve the service and accommodation of the foreign business and pleasure traveler. The General Manager is visible everyday around the hotel, greeting guests and keeping an eye out for customer service needs. A great addition to the Ulanbataar scene.

Check in was quick and nice. we stayed suite for one night. hotel has pub, restaurant and coffee shop which was convenient. this hotel is still under construction. be aware of dust and other stuff if you are parking outside. they don't offer covered parking.
