  • Jagdish Temple is one of the famous temples of Udaipur. Located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur, this temple is made in the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. In 1651, Jagdish temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh, who ruled Udaipur during 1628-53. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Laxmi Narayan), the preserver of the Universe. It is celebrated for being the largest temple in the city of Udaipur. The gateway of this temple can be sited at a distance of 150 meters from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. This three-storied temple is a wonder of architecture that comprises beautifully carved pillars, decorated ceilings, painted walls and lush halls. In those times, 1.5 million rupees were spent to raise this structure. The spire of the main temple is around 79 feet high that undoubtedly dominates the skyline of Udaipur. This shikhar (spire) is festooned with sculptures of dancers, elephants, horsemen and musicians making it truly a sight to behold. As and when you approach the temple, you will be welcomed by two huge stone elephants at the entrance. On the very front of the temple, you would find a stone slab that is imprinted with the inscriptions with reference to Maharaja Jagat Singh. To reach the main shrine, you have to take a marble flight of 32 steps. Here, you will find a brass image of Garuda, a figure of half-man and half-eagle. This huge idol stands as if; it is guarding the doorway of Lord Vishnu.

Helpful service but needs improvement

Good: The stfaff was very helpful. The coffee machine and fridge worked. Bottles of drinking water were supplied. The view of the Lake Fateh S. from the dining areas (one covered and one not) was excellent. Bad: Hot water was pathetic (it was the end of December and hot water was needed). There was no room heating ( a room heater was supplied on request). There was exactly one hanger in the closet ( when requested, two more were supplied).

A good experience in an hotel close to the lake

Really nice hotel close to the lake. I really appreciate that the hotel hire people with desabilities. For a 2 stars hotel the establishment is clean an confortable. The food is yummy but as a foreign tourist, must tell to the waitress no Spicy food. The rooftop is good I recommend this hotel

An awful smell

We booked a 2 day stay in 3 rooms at Panna Vilas, but didn't end up staying a night. They originally gave us 2 rooms that smelled deeply of sewage, after complaint 1 of those rooms was changed -- the new room only *slightly* smelled of sewage. After further complaints they (1) Opened the bathroom window in the evening, which didn't have a screen, so obviously mosquitos would be a bad problem, and they (2) lit incense in the hallway. They offered no other solution for the smell of sewage. We got in cabs and went to another hotel.

Comfortable Stay but service needs improvement

Stay was comfortable , location of Hotel was scenic . However as a corporate visit the thing which I did not like is they do not have complementary breakfast , this should be taken care when corporate visitor make visit.Moreover the way to restaurant is through the room which can be avoided .
