a very unique and beautiful place. The owners have restored this old hotel beautifully and it is being maintained to very high standard. The staff are very good and provide a high standard of service to the guests.
Bedroom 7 was very clean, well decorated and comfortable but the shower cubicle is not suitable for anyone on the large side (over 12 stone) as the entrance is restricted. The stair carpet is worn and decor rather tired in the entrance. Sadly they ran out of eggs and brown bread at breakfast and sausages were tasteless but rest of cooked breakfast was fine. Friendly hosts and a quiet location with great view from the restaurant. Good amount of parking in front of hotel
Lovely location and friendly mum & son team running this b&b. However this is not a place for light sleepers! Curtains are not blackout - so room is very light from sunrise onwards (to include headlights of cars dropping off passengers or parking at night shining into your room). Plus the floors are very thin so you can hear every footstep of people in room above. Showers not great (I couldn’t get ours to work on last day). Definitely order the cooked breakfast as that was good and they always had a spare sausage for our dog (nice touch). However for the price we’d hoped they’d have someone to clear the dirty tables at breakfast, have better coffee and fresh pastries (or best not offer the stale ones). We’ve stayed here before so had hoped they’d sorted the ‘staff shortage’ (it was attributed to) by our 2nd visit but sadly not. Which is a shame as it’s a really gorgeous location.
What a lovely place and very wonderful view.
Breakfast was amazing and the hospitality is overwhelming.
We were a family of four from London and the room was spacious and comfortable.
We are really happy with the service.
We do recommend this place for anyone who would like a quiet and peaceful getaway from city life.
Very helpful and friendly owner and staff. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff a bit of a struggle for wheelchair
The staff were extremely friendly and tried very hard. The hotel was difficult to find in the dark. The room was a bit tired and warm. The shower was a bit awkward for a wheelchair user. Being on a steep sloop a wheelchair user will need help to get in and out of the main house for meals. The staff did everything they could to accommodate but any wheelchair user will need assistance

a short break away.
The interior of the hotel is a little tired however our bedroom (room 1) was very clean and the bedding and towelling soft and spotless. The bed itself was also comfortable. The ensuite had been recently updated and was to a good standard. There was a friendly welcome by staff for our breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.
Fiona is a wonderful host. She was very welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel grounds are just gorgeous with breathtaking views and there are some lovely beaches very local.
Breaky was a treat each morning. Even our dog got a sausage cut up and fed to him each morning too! He’ll miss this attention!!
Thank you
It is a very interesting enterprise with the owner adapting to circumstances and demand. We thought it was a bit pricey but realised that as it was the only accommodation near the near the footpath they capitalised on it. The room was pretty and comfortable but toilet was dirty,a piece of plastic left by shower and only two teabags! Very pleasant, friendly and informative hosts.

Fantastic host and family
A lovely lovely host and family the property needs a bit of updating but they are so short staffed it was hard for them to offer the bar and restaurant and the outside seating had no cushions on but they made us feel so welcome and were so friendly and so hard working and offered to cook evening meals and open the bar if required.
They work 7 days a week with no rest and we even saw the owner up at 10 pm one night doing the laundry.
I do hope they get the rest they deserve in the winter months when they close
The venue was beautiful and the room was large and nicely decorated ,but on further inspection found that the room hadnt been cleaned ,several years worth of mould and cobwebs behind furniture ,the shower looked slimy with black mould on the grout .Bed felt damp .no WI-FI no information pack ,no phone number for owner .very basic .Had to go and find the owner in the dark to investigate an altercation in the room above .Owner didnt seem very concerned or helpful .We left at midnight and drove home as the weekend had been ruined .
The Liscawn ist eine außergewöhnlich Unterkunft mit einer langen Geschichte. Es ist sehr ruhig gelegen, mit Blick auf die Landschaft.
Parkplätze sind vorhanden, die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich
Stayed for 4 nights recently. Fiona & her team offered a very warm & friendly reception in a beautiful part of Cornwall we’d never visited before.
Our dog friendly accommodation was amazing, private entrance, 4 poster for the adults & an adjoining upstairs, beautifully oak beamed attic room for our 8 yr old daughter, large with 3 single beds - great for a family of 5 plus the Dorma windows made for easy star gazing.
Breakfast was lovely, fresh & local full English with good continental selection. Daughter loved the waffles & Fiona reserved a waffle just for her every morning. Our dachshund also spoilt with a sausage every morning for breakfast!
The hotel grounds were also beautiful. There’s a lovely garden & large pond, with nesting mallards there at the moment. Within the grounds, there’s a great play area for kids, surrounded by nature & very secure.
The Liscawn is a great central base, stunning surroundings & within 25 mins of attractions like Mount Edgecumbe, Looe, Polperro & Cawsand. The Barbican can be reached by foot ferry from Mount Edgecumbe.
There’s a small beach close by, easy access. Tregantle’s large sandy Beach is a mile away, beautiful & uncrowded - down the cliff but you could get a pushchair down.
A huge plus point was how dog friendly the area is, numerous restaurants & shops all welcoming pooches, our dachshund was spoilt more than the humans!
Beautiful old house in a lovely wooded valley, with a wonderful view. Very warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Sadly, the restaurant we've enjoyed on previous visits was under renovation so we had to dine elsewhere, but the hotel provided helpful and valuable alternate recommendations.
We picked this hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby. Fiona and Anna made us feel very welcome, and made our son feel especially welcome which was great as he is an only child. Service was above and beyond, especially as they are short staffed given the circumstances around Covid. Lovely views too.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Liscawn.
Beautifully location, friendly welcome, lovely breakfast.
Should be noted that the owner appears to be experiencing some staffing issues and the establishment is bring run more like a Guesthouse than a Hotel.
This did not impact our stay too much, but might affect others looking for are more inclusive experience.
Beautiful property, the owner and daughter are lovely!

Rooms need updating
Hotel is advertised as a 4 star, we were very disappointed as it’s definitely not 4 star.
Although very clean the room was very dated and the bathroom door didn’t close properly.
Not a lot of choice on the food menu.
Hotel staff were very friendly.
Lovely location.

Dog loving hotel
Room was a bit dark - nice welcome but what was disappointing was 2 incidents at breakfast - the waitress cleared a previous occupied table and poured the milk from the jug into the communal milk jug on the bufffet table - even without COVID would not expect this to happen. The 2nd incident was that a guests dog was in the restaurant at breakfast and the owner brought out some sausages on a plate for the dog which was fed them by the proprietor and the dog also licked the plate. I like dogs but I did not feel that these actions were acceptable.
