The museum was opened in 1991 as a sister museum of the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum and is run by a registered alliance called "Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim e.V.". As of 2004, it has more than 2,000 exhibits and an exhibition area of more than 150,000 m² (indoors and outdoors). It pulls more than half a million visitors per year. In addition to the exhibitions, the museum also sports a 22 m x 27 m giant IMAX Dome theatre.
n spring 2002, Lufthansa donated a retired Boeing 747-200 aircraft, which is now accessible to visitors.

In April 2008, a Soviet/Russian Buran spacecraft, OK-GLI, was transported to the Technikmuseum and is now another walk-in exhibit.

Other walk-in highlights are an Antonov An-22 and several other aircraft types, locomotives, the houseboat Sean O'Kelley of the Kelly Family, and submarine U9 of the German Navy

"I still don't understand how this hotel made it to your platform. You need to review some hotels before you put up for customers. I check-in at night, but I found it difficult to believe that it's actually a hotel. I've to go out to double check on if the address is right. I branded it Ghost hotel. I was very terrified. "Cute little inn, just down one flight of stairs from the historic cathedral. The building itself is historic. Room is well furnished and clean. They also provide an electric kettle for tea. The inn is above a restaurant, where the breakfast is served. And the breakfast is a veritable feast! I highly recommend this place! One minor detail: it wasn’t clear where to check in. I just went into the restaurant, which seemed to be the only option. A “check in here” sign would be very helpful."
