"Great location, nice room good space! Beautiful view!"

Onsen Hostel K's House Hakone

8/10 Good

"The room itself was clean (although a bit old - like the closet we weren’t really able to use). The bathroom was THE highlight. I wasn’t able to experience the onsen, but it looked great and they had a nice system to ensure patrons are comfortable (men attendance vs women). Not really an issue related to the hostel itself, but the one time I tried to check out the outdoor onsen at night, I think patrons had locked it so I wasn’t able to actually get in… It is a bit of a walk /hike from the main area of Hakone, so be prepared to walk uphill to get to the hostel. The kitchen was nicely stocked and clean, and overall there were lots of windows so you can see all the greenery. I’d definitely stay here again :)"

Hakone Airu

10/10 Excellent

"This was our first stay at a Ryokon in Hakone and we had a great experience at Hakone Airu. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The private onsen was luxurious and the Wagyu dinner was phenomenal. We were very happy with everything and were cognizant of the mixed reviews ahead of our stay—absolutely no complaints!"

Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien

8/10 Good

"This is a shoe-free hotel. You leave your shoes in a locker at the entrance and walk around in socks for the entire stay. All was good until I had a simple request. I asked if an attendant could call a local clinic to find out if they could see me for an urgent eye issue. No matter how I explained my request, I couldn’t get anyone to call or explain why they wouldn’t. I’ve used Google Translate in other cities in Japan, but here it only caused confusion. I ended up wasting an hour and a half traveling to a clinic that couldn't see me that day. The buffets were good and had a lot of choices, but were chaotic."

Yushintei

10/10 Excellent

"The staff here were so friendly and helpful. They really made you feel welcomed and helped you settle in. The property is beautiful, a classic traditional Japanese style ryokan and they provide slippers and robes as well. It was a very enjoyable stay for us. Even given the 15-20minute walk from the train station, you’re surrounded by beautiful nature and architecture, so it doesn’t feel very far at all. Our room had a private onsen which was fantastic, definitely a highlight! We recommend Yushintei and would absolutely come back."
