Big room, great onsen, nice breakfast

The hotelโ€™s open air bath is opened to the forest. The greatest Onsen experience we had in our 11 days trip. The breakfast is great as well. The location of the hotel is remote, dinner in the restaurant is by advance reservation only. As we didnโ€™t booked the dinner l, we have to drive 25 minutes to Taketa to have dinner.

No food, rooms are just ok, great breakfast

Not a whole lot else to choose from in this area at a reasonable price range. Hotel rooms were large, but could have been in better condition. The window blinds donโ€™t close all the way so you donโ€™t have good privacy. The white carpets are badly stained. The biggest unfortunate thing however is that the hotel restaurant closes at 8pm even though the sign says 9pm. The yakiniku restaurant outside closes at 3pm! nothing else in the area, not even convenience stores. No snack vending machines either. Also, I think I may have gotten a skin rash from the onsen. The bright side is that the breakfast was incredible (we got the western style, but you can also get Japanese style). Oh, and even though we payed in advance through Hotels.com, they nickel-and-dime you with a ยฅ150 onsen tax upon checkout.
