"Solid choice in the area. Very clean, spacious room. Comfortable bed, and THANK YOU for having a bathroom nightlight! So much nicer than turning on a bright bathroom light in the middle of the night. Outside of the hotel front doors are seating areas with gas firepits, a nice touch. Hotel staff were exceptionally nice. The ONLY disappointment was breakfast, which was strangely sparse. We went down to eat around 7:45 and food was running out and the person managing the area never refilled anything. Waffle machine had no batter. Guests coming into the breakfast area were literally wandering around trying to find something, literally anything to eat. I’m HOPING this was not typical. Other than that, a nice stay."

"Stayed at this location on a visit to Mount Rushmore. This is an older hotel, and we had a room on the 2nd floor. Access to the second floor was via stairs only. The room was clean and comfortable. We did not partake in the minimal continental breakfast in the morning. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this location again."

"We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with our dogs. 1st impression of walking into the hotel was not good. Looked dirty and run down. The front desk staff said as few words to us as possible. She wasn't rude, just not helpful. She asked our name. We let her know we were traveling with 2 dogs. She handed us the paperwork for the dogs and told us to fill it out. She looked at our driver's license and handed it back to us. She then handed us our room keys. We asked if we needed to come in the front doors and she said yes. She didn't tell us what room we were staying in, didn't tell us any other information about breakfast or any info about the other amenities. We got into the elevator to go to our room. Very strange inside of it. We had never seen an elevator with a black mat taped down in the middle and other items were taped up in the elevator. There is only one elevator. So either take the stairs or wait quite awhile for the elevator. The carpet on the 2nd floor looked dirty and very worn. Got into the room and it was pretty much the same. Our room did not smell bad. The AC had to be turned way down to get it to work and cool off the room. We did debate on even staying at the hotel for both nights and we started looking for another hotel. The hotel is not cared for, it needs to be updated. We did end up staying both nights. Also you can hear the people on the floor above you, they were very loud for hours, they finally stopped after 11 pm first night. Would not recommend."
