"The lodge is well located in the Hillcrest area, close to the Main Road with it's shops and restaurants. Bev the hostess was very welcoming and seemed prepared to go out of her way to assist her guests. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good. The room, while on the small side, was adequately furnished with a comfortable bed. There were a number of small items which detracted from my stay. "The hotel has an amazing vintage architecture. The building is amazing however it needs a some tlc. The reception ladies are great, they made me feel welcomed specially that it was my first time in Durban. The security guards was really good, very welcoming as well. I had a wonderful stay at the hotel with a nice sea view and it's very quiet, you get to relax.Just wish they could just could take case of the building outside, it really need some work. "

We were given a shabby room, which clearly used to be a shed before. The parking space is so narrow that a taxi was asked to park within 30 cm from the door opening to our room, which implied that my family had to squeeze themselves through the opening. "The hosts are charming and very helpful. We felt most welcome. The stay was very comfortable, and the breakfast superb. There was evidence by way of ash and ends caught in the rail of the sliding doors of the bedroom leading out to the pool, that someone had smoked in the room which was unfortunate."
