"It seemed the property was not ready for guests. The rooms and shelves were not very clean. The sink leaked and the bath drainage took a long time to drain. The stoves for cooking did not have knobs for turning it on. You could hardly see with the light in the bathroom when we arrived. The sofa was torn and squeaked. Linen & towels did not look fresh & clean (very old)."

"The lodge is well located in the Hillcrest area, close to the Main Road with it's shops and restaurants. Bev the hostess was very welcoming and seemed prepared to go out of her way to assist her guests. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good. The room, while on the small side, was adequately furnished with a comfortable bed. There were a number of small items which detracted from my stay. "The hotel has an amazing vintage architecture. The building is amazing however it needs a some tlc. The reception ladies are great, they made me feel welcomed specially that it was my first time in Durban. The security guards was really good, very welcoming as well. I had a wonderful stay at the hotel with a nice sea view and it's very quiet, you get to relax.Just wish they could just could take case of the building outside, it really need some work. "

There was evidence by way of ash and ends caught in the rail of the sliding doors of the bedroom leading out to the pool, that someone had smoked in the room which was unfortunate."
