Exceptional customer service. We were checking in late so I tried to ask for a room with good view and newer condition. The staff at reception gave us upgrade into executive suite with excellent lake view, beautiful room and plenty of space. Overall customer service is excellent. This hotel is a historic landmark but is in need of a renovation. Although the room was spacious it had an odd layout and was slightly run down. Carpet is worn down and the room had an odd smell. The bathroom was clean and spacious but wasn’t that usable due to strange design and maintenance issues. The staff was good and the afternoon tea was nice with a good selection of cakes and savoury snacks. Location is good but will require some walking time to get to a metro or convenience store.

Good location by the Suzhou river, walking distance to the Huangpu River bank to see the oriental Pearl Tower with the tall buildings in Huangpu district, also close to the Nanjing Road. Great service from the reception to the room, twice room cleaning a day. Strongly recommended.

I had a really lovely four night stay at Shanghai Mansion on the Bund. It’s a fabulous property with a great atmosphere, and the rooms are extremely comfortable and well put together. The staff were excellent throughout, genuinely friendly and always helpful, which made a big difference to the overall experience. The location is absolutely phenomenal. You’re right on the Bund, and the classic Shanghai skyline looking across to Pudong is literally right outside the door. It’s hard to beat and makes the whole stay feel a bit special. One of the highlights was the breakfast. It’s very high quality, with a wide and varied selection that changes daily, so it never feels repetitive. It was something I actually looked forward to each morning. There are just a couple of small things worth noting. The beds are very firm, even for someone like me who normally prefers a firmer mattress, so that may not suit everyone. Also, the air conditioning didn’t seem to be working properly during my stay. It wasn’t a major issue given the cooler weather, but it could matter more at a different time of year. Overall, though, a wonderful stay and I’d happily return.

Good location at the end of the Bunds. River view is great if room is in the mid or right section of the building facing towards the city night lights. Staff understand some English. Walk to the Yuyang old street and Yu garden is about 20mins.

The size of the room was sufficient, and the bed was nice and firm, but some of the furniture felt worn. It was nice that bottled water was provided every day. Buffet breakfast was traditional Chinese for the most part, but there were several western options as well. Staff was very helpful and assisted with several issues we had. Location is within walking distance to the amazing riverside where there is a dazzling display of lights, as well as Nanjing Road, which is a fantastic and classy pedestrian street. However, a little disappointed that the room with river view does not overlook the side of the Huangpu River, where the skyscrapers are located, but instead, has a view of a river perpendicular to the Huangpu. But otherwise, the hotel is well located and very much recommended.

Great location. Only 1 elevator was working when I stayed, which had to be shared with apparently half of China. The staff were nice. The wifi was substandard. I was probably the only other Westerner/non-Chinese, but most staff could speak some English. It was indeed clean and the room was pretty spacious.

This is a historic building with an excellent location and view. But the facility is outdated. The AC system is weak particularly in the hot summer days. After being in a room with a temperature of 79 degrees for a few hours, I contacted the front desk. A building maintenance guy and a manager came. Without any inspections, they told me that it was the way in the hot summer then left. I could not imagine that I had to stay in that room for one wk so I requested a room change. Finally, I was placed in a different room with a better cooling AC. The cleaning lady Ms. Peng is very pleasant and warm. She would be the only reason that I will come back to the hotel.
