We have stayed in scores of Best Western properties over 50 years and stayed in this hotel many times as a Quality Inn with no problems. But under new ownership, this was my worst hotel stay EVER.
They had trouble checking us in, the hotel elevator is broken and according to staff has been for some time. Isn't that an ADA violation?
When we got to the room, the toilet was non-flushing, the heater was either off or on, no functional control, and a half bag of popped popcorn was stuck in the couch. It took 2 ½ days to clear the toilet but it plugged again three days later and took more than two days again to fix it. That’s no functional toilet for more than half our stay. We did nothing to it; feces, urine and a couple of sheets of TP, that’s it. And remember, it was plugged when we got there.
During our nine-day stay we never had the room serviced or cleaned by housekeeping. At mid-week, I emptied the trash cans myself.
This speaks horribly for your Best Western brand, not to speak of for the local operator. I don't blame the onsite staff. They seemed as frustrated as we were. And I should say, the woman who runs the hotel breakfast and has for 20 years is a real champion working in a bad environment. Her food was hot and great, she was pleasant and tried to help us with our other issues. The management could take a lesson from her in hospitability and performance
