"This was my 3rd time staying at this property. Overall, satisfied with customer service, cleanliness, and proximity to UVA. Staff was great from the time we checked in to time we checked out. Great stay."
"I loved staying at the Doyle. It’s a great location walking distance to restaurants, bars and the Saturday farmers market. The staff was very kind and helpful. They made me feel right at home. I had a great view and loved the art and aesthetic of the hotel. I will be coming back and recommending The Doyle to friends. Thank hou! "

"Rooms and property were very clean. Location was convenient to access almost any area you may want to go. Breakfast was decent. Pool was typical indoor pool in that it was noisy but this one also smelled musty. Workout room was fair. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall if you are looking for a clean, safe and comfortable place to stay and don't care about the pool this is a winner"
"The halls smelled either like pee (first floor) or musky cigarettes(second floor).
The room wasn’t very clean, dirt on the window sill, stains on the curtains. Everything seemed to be falling apart like the faucet handle coming off and the drain in the shower.
They do not clean your room like you would typically expect. We left the room (without the DND sign) one morning (roughly 8am), returned around 4pm and it wasn’t cleaned so we called and asked if they could come by today and we were told yes, we left and returned later at 7ish and it still wasn’t clean. Called again and they said the cleaners left for the day but could bring us towels and sheets to do ourselves!
Also note that their TV’s are out of date, there isn’t even a guide option, definitely no option to stream or even mirror your screen. They have like 20 channels.
The AC unit in the room blows right on the bed closest to it. And it blows right on your face. So you have to pick either having it blow right on you all night or turn it off and let it get hot in the room.
The back entrance is sketchy, people hangout around there so it’s pretty uncomfortable going in and out especially when it’s dark. Also people woke us up around 11 from honking obnoxiously

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charlottesville Downtown/University Area

"Parking is very convenient in a crowded part of the city with limited parking. It's free and in the basement. Not a lover of the decor, but that's a personal choice and has nothing to do with the overall function of the hotel. My biggest complaint is the odd choice of their room doors. They are extremely heavy and have a spring action shut to them that makes them slam automatically, causing a huge "bang" all through the hall even if you try to close the door quietly. Not sure why it has to be so dramatic and clunky and, ultimately noisy enough for light sleepers to wake up."
