"Lovely Hotel., clean, spacious and lovely friendly staff. Give 4/5 just a few let downs We had an email 2 days before arrival to say there would be work happening which we did address on arrival and were told it would not start till the Monday only to be woken early this am Friday 27th March with someone shouting to close windows to prevent dust going in rooms!! We had a patio room so very spacious and all you need is on hand coffee machine biscuits, toiletries and lovely and clean only downside when it says double room the bed is that, a double, we are so used to having two singles joined in previous hotels that the bed was too small and short for us being 6ft tall. Breakfast was freshly made to order and lots of choice from continental but was pricey at £20 each. "

"The hotel itself is fine and everything you expect from a Holiday Inn. My only major negative is the price of parking. At £50 per day (that’s even with discount, should be £80) is a complete rip off and not mentioned on the site. Needs to be more transparent, just says parking is available, no mention of charges. "

"Parking was secure although access was tight. One member of staff had a lukewarm attitude, others were lovely. Our room hadn't been decorated for a very long time and the bathroom was tiny. "

"Gorgeous building, room and well maintained gardens, however for a 5* hotel the service was poor, the staff seemed less than enthusiastic towards guests and there was no feeling of warmth or welcome from them. Possibly because they where so few in number. The hotel seriously lacks enough staff to provide much of a service. They hardly provide you with any extras in the room with only 2 coffee pods provided each day with nothing other than coffee top ups provided beyond the first day. The spa area was fantastic, 10 years ago but now its very worn and showing its age.I couldnt believe that for this level of hotel how dirty and unclean it was. Brown tide marks around the pool, black mould on the shower heads in the thermal area and the ice room smelt mouldy and was covered in black mould especially around the tube where the ice came out, the shower head and the cubicle. All the fancy showers in the thermal area didnt work as they should or didnt work at all. Most of the thermal pool jets didnt work apart from the odd few, tiles were missing, dirty windows and unclean floors. This hotel whilst lovely needs to seriously look at the service it is providing especially to guests who stay beyond a couple of days and invest maintenance and a deep clean of its spa area. Sadly this was far from a five star experience. "

"Clean and well presented. Staff very helpful. Continental breakfast limited. No fruit salads, porridge, bananas, oat milk, prunes, granolas, cereal toppings or berries etc. "

"Pretty faultless even without a window! The hotel had a great feel to it. Reception had a cool vibe and one evening they had a cheese and wine evening. Very central. Clean. Long stay parking less than 10 mins away. I'd definately stay again. Bravo to the team running the place 👏👏👏"

"I loved the uniqueness and traditional architecture of this hotel. Staff was amazing and kind, food and drinks very good, and location very convenient, close to Roman baths. "
