Great stay and location
Great location by termini train station and a couple of metro stops. Everyone at the reception was very nice! Typical small European hotel room but the beds were very comfortable!

So REGRET to make a reservation at Hotel Mariano
I am so regret to make a reservation at Hotel Mariano and this is the reason WHY? I reached to this hotel in Rome at 10 PM with my wife, I already made a reservation #156552890544 to this hotel before TWO weeks and I have a reservation and confirmation number, and also I paid in full amount for my two days reservation. When I reached the front desk at 10 PM, I astonished when the front desk worker told me that there is no room for me and all the rooms are occupied. I called Hotels.com but they didn't assist me in this matter, the Hotels.com called Hotel Mariano and only reached with so bad solution with them that Hotel Mariano can take us to another hotel. My wife and I accepted that because the time is running and its passed the MIDNIGHT, then a worker took us WALKING after midnight to another hotel, and after we reached the other hotel its name Hotel D'ESTE, it was full, and they gave us a separate room outside the hotel belonging to the hotel's staff. Although the people working at Hotel D'ESTE were so good but the room was not good. It was so bad experience and also so bad because Hotels.com didn't find a probable solution for my reservation although I am a loyal customer for them. It was so bad experience from all aspects. I will never trust Hotel Mariano or go there again, and also my trust for Hotels.com went down because it didn't helped me in such a critical midnight issue for a reservation I already made and paid in full through Hotels.com.

The most reasonably-priced 3-star hotel in the area. Close to the terminal, many restaurants and just a few minutes away from the Coliseum, Forum and other great tourist locations. Max and his crew were very helpful. The free breakfast was all right. Hot/Cold drinks and pastries should only be enough to fuel you for the adventure you'll have in the city. Bathtub was a bit high to climb over, short/elderly people may need a boost.

Perfectly nice, clean, well-located property next to the central train station. Nice restaurants in walking distance. The free breakfast is really just a croissant and a coffee machine, though, so you can probably find better cafes nearby for that.

Although the rooms are quite small (especially the bathrooms), the location of this hotel is excellent for travelers who need to be close to Termini Station. Besides, you will be right in front of Mercato Centrale, the new food court of Termini Station, which offers excellent food!

cleanliness was the only one i gave a compliment
if you're looking for decent hotel and you have your own internet and towel you could stay this place. if you are from the other part of the world so you gotta buy internet 9 or 10 euro for this and NO TOWEL. so you also can pay more 3-5 euro for better hotel around there. Plus, they'll charge you 20 euro for additional person (make sure you book for 2 people if no you will definitely get charged) i work in hotel and hospitality so this property was not impress for for me except the room was super clean.

This hotel is 2 blocks from Roma termini train station. Friendly staff with good info about local restaurants and train details.

Close to Train Stn
close to main train station which has many shops and fast food options. Many local restaurants are within a block or two. Good down hill walk to the main ruin sights.

Clean, Low Budget Hotel Near Roma Termini
If you're looking for a clean, low budget hotel near the main train station in Rome, consider this hotel. There are no frills and the room was small, but it had air conditioning and a clean bathroom. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. There is no in-room safe. You can store luggage in a closet in the lobby.

the room is normal but Great Staying!!
it's in a good location and the price is reasonable. The wifi charges about 3euro but it's more stable than the free wifi in other hotels. And the air conditioner works good.

Dear Sir, the price is for a all-you-can-eat breakfast, we do not have a price of each single kind of food (it would be very difficolt to manage, as we are not a bar). In case you desire a light breakfast we suggest our guests to buy a little snack from our vending machines in the lobby. thanks

3-star hotel with ups and downs
Friendly, helpful staff, conveniently located right next to the Train Station and Metro, but b/c of that dubious people around and strange night activity, not just on the streets, but in the hotel as well. I would not venture outside at night. Another thumbs down: who would charge these days for Internet? They do!

My friend and I booked this hotel, because it's so close to the train station. We didn't expect it to be as great as it turned out to be. The staff was very sweet and the room was nice! I'm definitely planning on staying here again.

We stayed here for 2 night prior to a cruise. We chose this hotel for its proximity to Termini station as we were arriving around 9pm. The neighbourhood isn't spectacular, but we never felt unsafe - even arriving after dark. It was relatively close and easy to find...and it was close enough to walk (albeit sometimes long walks) from all the big sites. This is where the positives end though. This hotel is a dive. The mattress on the bed was so hard that I woke up several times a night due to pain and needing to rotate. The bathroom shower is small - if you are overweight or 7+ months pregnant you will NOT fit in this shower. The smell of sewage was so overwhelming that we had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times. It was truly disgusting, I have never smelled anything so horrible in my life. In addition the shower was plugged and did not drain (probably why the bathroom smelled of sewage). Yes, this hotel is cheap compared to many hotels in Rome, but next time I would fork up the extra money and stay somewhere else.

Iit was what I expected for the money I paid. It was near to Termani Station and the accommodation was decent, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were very basic even for a continental style breakfast.

Hotel is adequate about not much more. Looks like still using same linen as in days of Ceaser (sp?). AC is adequate, not great. No WIFI and hotel staff not very helpful. No character to this hotel and seems a bit over-priced for what you get.

Good, central location and welcoming place.
very central location, within easy walking distance of Termini station. room was small, but comfortable and well looked after. breakfast was limited in that it was only rolls and cereal, juice and coffee. However, for us that was fine, but for our traveling companions who have a wheat allergy it was not so good. Lots of good restaurants around the area. The staff were helpful and all in all we would recommend this hotel as a great place to spend a few days in Rome. We would certainly return.

The hotel was 2-3 blocks from the Rome train station. Walking distance from a few tourist places (we walked to the Coliseum - 15min). The neighborhood is so so, it is near their China Town, we didn't have any problems though. The room was a decent size and clean. The bathroom was too. The staff was helpful in telling us how to get to tourist places and where to go. Overall, a good experience.

It is a nice hotel with clean room and comfortable bed. The up side is closed to train station. Just within 5 mins walking distance. However the location is not that safe. Walking down the side streets is not recommended after dark.

this hotel was friendly, clean, and safe. The front desk employees were helpful and friendly. We had a clocked drain in our shower, which we reported, but it was not fixed during out two night stay -- but all else was good.

Mariano - only if you are passing through Rome
If staying in Rome for more than a night, look elsewhere. But in my case it only an overnight, and if you are travelling by train then Mariano is indeed very convenient. Clean, if tiny, rooms, and you need to run the shower for at least five minutes before the water heats up. This is a bit distressing if you hate to waste water.

Only good thing I can say is that it was close to Termini Station, but there were also a lot of hotels in the surrounding area that I saw when walking around the neighborhood. They didn't give us new sheets or towels until after the third day. The AC in the room would be off when we got back so we'd have to blast it after returning to get the room to cool down. The shutters were closed and it was DARK, so we had to turn on the lights on in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night. There was no internet so had to walk the three blocks to the internet cafe. The floors weren't swept or wiped down very well as hair and dirt was still evident after they 'made' the rooms when we came back. The neighborhood is on the ghetto side and a bit scary to be walking by yourself at night. Wasn't too bad of a walk to the center of Rome, but would have chosen another hotel in the area had I known better. When asking the front desk to arrange for a taxi for the airport, he overcharged by $15 Euro. Was able to get it for $35 Euro and he wanted $50 Euro. Would never stay here again and not recommend to this place to anyone. There are better hotels, closer to the restaurants and main street than this hotel. The hotel front desk guy trying to take advantage of the taxi fare just topped it off as making a memorable awful stay.
