"This was a very good place to stay. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful; there is a large shared fridge downstairs which is incredibly useful if you're travelling around and self-catering as we were. Freezer packs were placed in the kitchen freezer by staff and returned to us the next morning. There was a large, comfortable, shared lounge on the first floor with great views. Bathroom facilities were shared, but exceptionally clean and there was no problem in accessing them when needed. Our room was next to a shower, but there was no problem with noise. The whole place, internally and externally, was really well-cared for and everything worked. Breakfast was excellent and tea and coffee was available at all times, including decaf. Our one small negative would be the basic nature of the bedroom. There's not a lot of space, but as long as you're organised and take it in turns to sort yourself out you'll be ok. Highly recommended."
"Clean and spacious room. Nothing special but that reflects the amount paid. Next to the lake and right on ring road. Plenty of parking and lift available. We did not have the breakfast. All in all, good value"
"Hotel restaurant--top notch. What an innovative chef! Meals were unique and now legendary.
Tale of 2 rooms.
Single room: top floor; so, so hot. Iceland will someday come around to placing individual AC units in *the* rooms that get the 23.5 hours of sunlight and heat. Curtains block out light but turn the room into an inferno. SUCH a nice place, but I doubt I'm the only traveler whose room was an oven in summer. The fan was nice, but not helpful.
Deluxe Room: ground floor, shaded with trees, completely lovely, super comfortable in amenities AND temperature. Again, the hotel knows which few rooms are NOT this way.
What a lovely place. I hate that our second room was miserable as it gave two totally polarizing opinions of this hotel. Plan with care."
"We stayed at Edda one night in July. Parking is free, rooms are basic dormitory style: clean, comfortable beds, white/clean linen, desk and private bathroom. No black out shades or curtains so, if visiting in summer, bring eye mask. Staff was very polite and friendly. Breakfast available for a fee which we did not partake but, the dining area was clean as well. The accommodations at the Edda are basic but the price is proportional to the amenities. We would stay again."
"Beautiful property. Clean, elegantly adorned in yellow. Could have stayed here much longer. Dinner was excellent. Had Arctic Char. Breakfast was perfect. Staff helpful and friendly. Homemade rhubarb jam!!!! Oversized bathrooms. Beds facing the windows for viewing of the wonderful scenery."
"Beautiful hotel. Hot tubs and sauna have beautiful views. A couple of off-putting things about a hotel of this quality were the melamine plates used for breakfast (very cheap!) and the fact that we had to pre-pay for breakfast before being allowed into the breakfast area. Such bad taste!"
"the cabin was a dream! it was perfect! and the staff was awesome! check in was smooth even though we were very late, wish we had more than one night to stay, but definitely will book it again if we will be in the area."
