"This is a charming old inn in the very center of town. A wedding and a retreat were both happening when we were there. It was lively and cheerful in the breakfast room. The decor is hodge podgey. We had a room with a bathroom. It was very clean but the toilet did not work, which was inconvenient and disappointing. We had a very late arrival and an early departure so we did not stay long enough to learn if the staff was able to fix it in a hurry. We were happy for a clean place to stay in an historic building in a pretty Vermont town!"

"The reason I gave it all 5 stars is because there upfront and honest they are remodeling so everything is down but Atleast ice machine was working. Room was clean and comfortable and beds were great. Great working tv with good channels. I was doing an event in the Rutland area and I’m up from Tampa Bay Florida so I got to watch my Orlando Magic and Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay rays all on the TV here so stay was perfect. Hotel very quiet bc they are remodeling and only have few rooms open"

"Place was disgusting, I would not allow my hunting dog to sleep in those rooms, toilet non functioned, dirty stained bedding and floors, bathroom was nasty.. we left no money back do not care... The entire place smelled like moldy wet dirty socks.. hair and other things on floors. Place should be condemned.."

"The hot pool never disappoints. Comfortable bed, in room mini fridge and microwave are welcome amenities. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Can't beat the drink specials and $1 shrimp at the Star Lounge. I hear there are new owners that are going to do some maintenance and renovations and I sure hope they keep the rad North Star vibes we've loved for years. "

"This property is very dated, and it shows it, through flow around the three buildings to get to the amenities, parking areas, fixtures, appliances, dilapidated exteriors, bathroom, and common spaces. These buildings are 45 years old and they wear it. The room was a fine space to spend a weekend, but a cheap, clunky, ugly portable 'closet' installed between the bedroom and living room in place of a wall interrupted the flow of the unit in a jarring manner. Extra blankets in said closet smelled dirty and unwashed. Please be aware the bedroom has no door, if that's important to you! Sufficient kitchen tools and pots and pans to cook a meal which was appreciated. Didn't receive any checkin instructions, had to reach out and wait to get the code, clunky process which required a 3rd party website. Water softener made the water taste salty and gross."
