We only stayed for 2nights on our way back from Scotland but wished we could have stayed longer. All the staff were very attentive and friendly especially Millie, she was great and managed so well under pressure when a member of staff called in sick at short notice.
Our room was spotless as was the bathroom and the bed very big and very comfortable.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and were delighted with the choice and standard of the food.
We would not hesitate to recommend The White Swan and hope that we can visit again.
Good location. Reasonable state of repair. Food excellent. Staff great - especially Millie, who was outstandingly helpful, welcoming and hardworking. Well done. Thank you for a fabulous weekend.
Excellent hotel with bar and restaurant
Food very good beer top quality Yorkshire brews menu to my taste breakfast again superb
Traditional property in the market square of a lovely Yorkshire market town
Excellent hotel, loved it
The rooms are so nice, good toiletries and even a little fridge and the breakfast was absolutely amazing with such good quality produce
The bar area with the fire is so cosy and a good choice of drinks
The only slight criticism is you could hear people easily in other rooms and the corridor
Hotel was excellent throughout. Warm and friendly colleagues could not do enough for us.
Spotless rooms and public areas and food was of high quality.
Cannot speak highly enough. Would certainly recommend and we will certainly be back.
Thoroughly superb. The service was excellent and the building very charming. Location is great with so many independent shops and of course the wonderful North York Moors Railway a 2 minute walk away. Would absolutely love to stay here again.
Nice location. Ideal for travel on the NYMR trains to Whitby.
Rooms clean and comfortable.
Food good.
Stayed here several times in the past and will return.
White Swan is excellent. Positioned in the centre of town, with private parking. Room was lovely, and also spotless. Staff couldnt do enough. The breakfast was brilliant, unrushed and well cooked. The town is lovely and is on your doorstep, as are the North Yorkshire moors. We went on the train to Whitby which was stunning
Too many steep stairs to get to room. Room poorly lit. Bathroom intensely hot through a towel rail that couldn't be adjusted.
Restaurant & bar staff excellent.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable, food was excellent although a little expensive and the staff were friendly and professional. Even our dog was made welcome with treats in the room and in the bar. Our only
Good hotel, friendly staff and a big, clean, spacious room with a great shower. Excellent location - Pickering is a lovely small town with good pubs and restaurants (we especially liked the Willowgate Bistro). Dinner on our first night was nice but we found breakfast a bit hit and miss - great full english but limited choice for vegetarians.
Had a large bedroom and sitting room with good views to the front and rear. Very large and comfortable bed and nice furnishings. Food in hotel excellent quality both breakfast and dinner. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel very close to station for North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Whitby. We had a lovely day out.
Lovely hotel and the staff were absolutely fantastic. The food was superb - lovely breakfasts and the evening meals really lovely too.
We stayed in room 6 and our friends in room 1. There was some street noise in room 1 but our friends used ear plugs and the great hotel and the lovely market town that it was situated in made up for this.
A lovely, comfortable Inn in a delightful position
This Inn/ Hotel is an absolute delight. We spent a weekend at the White Swan and could not have had a better experience. The buildings are old [ in the main part] but are superbly looked after and fitted out. Our room [12] was large and had a super bed - some 8 ft wide. There was a really good tea and coffee facility on a pull out tray - these little things make such a difference - and the radiators [ with thermostatic valves] were large enough for the cool weather. The bathroom was well fitted out and pleasant to use.
The staff were excellent. The hotel was quite busy on the Saturday night but we had service from the staff which is by far the best and most efficient that I have had the pleasure of experiencing in all my years of visiting hotels. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was super - and the wine list was long and of quality.
Good service, lovely room in the 'stables', very comfy bed. Instead of complimentary dressing gowns, should have had slippers - slate floors very cold on the feet! Problem with flies in the bar and small lounge was off-putting. Hotel.com price was £31 per night more expensive than the actual rate at the hotel!

Very central
This is a typical village pub/hotel in the centre of the town. The rooms are comfortable, but there was no light anywhere near the dressing table in my room (2) and unfortunately the cigarette smoke from those smoking in the lane outside drifts directly up into the rear rooms of the hotel. The dining room menu reads well, but the food was slightly disappointing. Overall I felt that the room and meal were a bit over priced.
From booking in to checking out, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had only a couple of small issues but these were more to do with our penchant for early rising. There didn't seem to be any hot water at around 6am and we would have liked breakfast to be served from 7am, but again this is only down to our personal preference.

Weekend break
Room was small and fairly basic. The decor was a bit shappy and dated. There were no shelves or drawers suitable for clothes so we couldn't unpack properly. I expected a higher standerd for the price charged. Dinner was good but not outstanding and quite expensive.
Exceptionally comfortable beds and excellent en-suite facilities. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and there was a wide selection of dishes. Rib-eye steaks were large and succulent.
We stayed in one of the modern rooms in the courtyard and found it very comfortable with everything we could have asked for.
We ate in the restaurant for the two nights of our stay (between Christmas & New Year) and the food was outstanding! Very original and truly delicious!
Great atmosphere and good service.
relaxed and comfortable hotel with young enthusiastic staff who were very helpful.Comfortable but not big rooms .Fresh local ingredients made for excellent and tasty food at all meals. All of this set in th e lovely surroundings of the Yorkshire Moors. Not particularly cheap but hard to beat I think.
Our stay at the White Swan Inn was delightful. The room was clean, comfortable and full of charm and the staff were friendly and very accomodating. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious and included fresh, warm, homemade croissants. The Hotel does not have a lift/elevator to the upper floors which presents a challenge with luggage, but it's worth it. I would recommend this Hotel with complete confidence to one and all.
