"Very unsatisfied with my stay in the twin room. Cleanliness was terrible, with stains on all the towels and bed sheets. Pillows all smells mouldy. Bathroom without exhausting fan and with strong sewage smells. On the first night there were two huge spiders in our room, we can’t find anyone to help at around 10.30pm because reception finished work at 10pm. We couldn’t sleep until around 1am because we only managed to kick one of the two spiders out. I told the reception girl the next morning that...

"Origin is a perfect Bali “home away from home”. Located right in the hub of best restaurants, spas and shopping - yet down a quiet lane for peace, calm and privacy. A short stroll to the beach, beautiful for morning walks and sunset drinks. Highly recommend for an elegant stay in Bali. "

"This villa is basic and was perfect for me for my one week stay.
I enjoyed privacy, the comfortable sofa on the terrace, and a hot bath in a jungle setting.
Overall it was peaceful aside from some construction noise and traffic in the distance. Lots of frogs too through the night but the sounds of nature are wonderful.
Biggest downside was the road to get to it which is very challenging for cars. Better if you plan to use a scooter or scooter taxi.

"A unique hotel. Whilst a little old and wearing out in patches the hotel offers exceptional value and gives the experience of a high-end golf resort for a fraction of the cost. Not sure if the golf is handled by other hotels but you are located on the course in amongst some failed developments ( not un-common in Bali ) If you overlook some minor imperfections you have a hotel with fantastic helpful staff ( shout out to trainee Julia in the great breakfast buffet ) There is a free transfer to the Dreamland beach, which is close by and is quite calm with lovely sand and has food and beach massages etc.
Definitely explore the building it is quite unique with a cavernous party or wedding space upstairs.
A variety of guests from different nations and it seems some long term surfer types too.
At the price it is hard to beat and I would certainly stay again.
The rooms are massive and the bed is huge. The room is basically a high end Chinese hotel room teleported to Bali... 15 years ago....with new sheets.
Give it a try. It was low season so maybe we got a better room than other reviewers have. The balcony no view rooms strangely are in a long light well and look at each other."
"My wife and I arrived at about 3.30pm to check in. There was no concierge to greet their guests and assist with their luggage. There was no one there to greet guests offering welcome drinks, towels etc. we found our way to another room where there was 2 bottles of water sitting in a bucket of melted ice water which was warm, there was only one clean glass to serve yourself.
There were people waiting around in the lobby and lots of luggage around waiting to be checked in.
Check in time is at 3pm, at 3.45 pm we were told that our room is not ready and should be ready in about 10 minutes. At 4.15 I approached the reception asked if our room was ready, it wasn’t. We have been on the road since 10 am on the day and were desperate to get into our room and have a shower and rest. It was about 5pm before we were told that our room was ready.
I believe that the hotel is understaffed and very badly managed. This is an international 5* branded resort however in my opinion it is not worthy of that rating, I will not be staying at this resort again and do not recommend it however with a better management and better trained staff could turn this around."
"This was our first stop in our stay in Bali. Our experience, from being greeted by the staff, our well-appointed room, to the generous breakfast buffet, and gracious staff, our stay could not be better.
Our family had multiple rooms and no one had a complaint.
Thank you to all the helpful staff!"
"The premises and the setting are fantastic. However, I do not believe the overall value matches the price charged. During our stay, there was a blackout on the island. Unfortunately, the hotel’s water system relies entirely on electric pumps, which meant that the toilet, basin, and shower became unusable. As a result, we could not use the bathroom facilities at all for several hours. For a hotel of this caliber, I would have expected an emergency backup power system, but this was not available. Apparently, the island receives power from Java via an underwater cable. Fortunately, the outage lasted only a couple of hours, but the hotel itself was unable to provide any practical solution during that time. There were also several smaller issues that affected the experience:
The rooms do not include a kettle for tea or coffee arguing environmental reasons. Upon check-in, we were informed that outside food and drinks were not permitted. Additionally, the restaurant applies an 11% service charge plus a 10% tax, neither of which is included in the menu prices displayed. While I understand this is common practice in Bali, I still find it somewhat misleading, as the final bill is significantly higher than expected from the listed prices. Overall, while the property itself is beautiful, there are several operational and value-related aspects that could be improved to better align with the standard and pricing of the hotel."
"The staff at Grun are absolutely next level. Some of the best people I've had a chance to stay with. Extremely warm and welcoming. and did everything they could to go above and beyond. I completely enjoyed being at Grun and would absolutely come back."

"A lovely place to stay, great staff, everyone is kind & helpful. They let me do a late checkout no extra charge. Breakfast is great, the restaurant is beautiful, the hotel is 3 mins away (walking distance) from the beach. I recommend this hotel 100%."
