"We spent 3 nights at this apartment in Newbiggin. The apartment itself is lovely, clean, and well-equipped; a real home away from home. Please note that the location of the accommodation is within a residential estate and is a terraced block. We were able to hear noise and conversations from neighbouring properties and so felt very conscious of our own noise levels when in the apartment. "Lovely, beautiful little old fashioned lodge for self-catering tucked away behind thick gardens abutted to a lovely old building on the outskirts of Alnwick. Its self-catering and had everything we needed, including good TV choice for the evenings and a strong wi-fi (in the lounge but not in kitchen). We just felt so at ease and relaxed in the evenings there. It may not be for everybody, say for example, those that like things to look modern. But for us with an eye to more homely back-in-the-day...

"Lodge was easy to find and access from email instructions. Love the decor/styling. Kitchen was well kitted out and a great shower. Good TV, comfy sofa. Small secure outdoor space was fine for small dog to potter out. Highly recommend for a couple. Very handy for town centre, Alnwick Castle and parkrun Heaters seems to constantly click loudly so options were a disrupted sleep or being a bit cold overnight. Parking would be tricky in peak season but <5mins walk. "

"The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. The bar was so welcoming with a great whiskey selection for myself and cocktail selection my partner loved. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our stay Matfen Hall was excellent and I highly recommend. We didn’t use the spa facilities this time but definitely will on our return. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a pleasure "
