"We have stayed here once a year for the past 3 years. It is always clean, quiet and well maintained. The staff are so nice and helpful and the breakfast is hot and lots of variety. It makes our trip to that area so nice."

"This is a hotel that needs some massive tlc. The wallpaper was coming off of the walls. The carpet was taped together at the threshold. The sheets didn’t fit the bed leaving exposed mattress. The furniture had been chewed by a dog. The paint on the walls and doors was in need of a new pant job. While the lady serving breakfast went out of her way, that area needed a facelift. We had stayed here when it first opened. What a sad difference. We will not be staying in a Wyndham again."

"I was told I would have to pay an additional fee for early check in 1 hour and the room was ready. They did not explain that the room was in the lodge and I requested a bottom floor and didn’t get one with no explanation"

"My reserved & paid for room was given away to someone else I found out upon arrival. I had to stay in a double queen room when I booked a king suite. They told me somehow they overbooked. There was no body wash in the shower and barely any toilet paper on the roll. I usually stay at La Quinta and have a good experience but this one was terrible."

"Was disappointed that the TV stopped working while I was watching. The front desk clerk was new and didn’t know how to help. It was already 12:30am so I didn’t change rooms. The refrigerator was tipping over so I placed a crushed water bottle under it to stabilize it. Around 2am the refrigerator made a loud high pitched whirling sound. The air conditioner also made loud buzzing motor sounds. Couldn’t sleep."

"I will start with the positive. We got massages and the spa was nice. The massages were good. The steakhouse was wonderful and the manager there, the waitress and the staff throughout Oglebay were really good. Now for the not so good: We were there for our 40th anniversary, which they had in their system, but we were given a room in one of the lodge wings that only had a view of the wall belonging to the next building of rooms. Most of the rooms in our section had balconies you could go out on and had views. Not ours. Took some of the specialness of going there for our anniversary away and we spent alot there with the massages, the room, the steak house and drinks. You would think we would have been given a better view. The zoo was closed and there are no longer deer roaming about. We used to love watching them when we went for the holiday season. The gift shops had a lot less to offer and the one in the actual lodge has been condensed with a coffee shop and is way smaller than it used to be. I have been here during the holidays and would recommend going there at that time, not any other time. Unless you are a golfer. There is a crazy hilly golf course you might appreciate."
