"Late check-in a nightmare:
I got a message from the hotel saying "If you are arriving after the reception is closed. We will send late arrival information to you just before we closing on the day of arrival."
So I indicated I would be late, but no instructions were provided. I eventually worked out the process after waiting for someone to respond to the intercom.
When in the hotel, you are greeted out of hours with a tepid flask of coffee and no facilities to make a hot drink in your room.
Then the in-room information suggested seeing reception for an ironing board - not much use if reception is not staffed of an evening - only to find that there was actually an iron and board by the lifts - so the information needs updating.
I would not recommend nor am I likely to use again!"
"Petite room with petite shower. Suffers from same problem as many Danish hotels - if you want black-out curtains drawn against the late sunset/early sunrise, you cook in the room with inadequate airflow. Good breakfast. Nice location."
"Good restful short stay. Very convenient to station, ferry and castle, lots of restaurants nearby. Excellent breakfast. Early check-in was appreciated."
"We had a wonderful stay. Our room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast and parking we're what got us to pick this hotel and Im sorry glad we did because it was a great experience."
"This is a "capsule hotel" meaning you get a text message or email with a door code the morning of your stay and then you can get into your room. This is fine but you need to have some kind of connectivity to read those messages. I found the place quiet and pleasant; somewhere in-between a hotel and a hostel, with people in the morning willing to talk and hang out. However, the only way to contact the staff is by cellphone; there is no staff on-site. So when there are screaming toddlers running up and down the halls or there is a problem with something there is no way to contact people because they aren't there. The price is excellent, though, it is a fifteen-minute walk from the train station (and a walk through a lovely small town that is worth the visit for itself) and the rooms are comfortable. Bikerod itself is worth a visit. I would definitely stay here again.
The bar next door is an old Danish "brown pub" which is populated with serious drinkers... old guys who show up at 9am for their first beer and leave late in the evening. There are a bunch of reviews on the internet from people saying they were treated poorly there, but I liked the place myself. Just go in and be respectful and don't act like a goddamn tourists, just be quiet and drink a beer. The beer is good, but there is no food."
"The property is nice and spacious. The rooms are comfortable. Two upgrades would help greatly. Currently guests who may have heavy baggage with them due to the length/duration of their stay have to lift/haul it up the stairs in multiple places which is highly inconvenient. Constructing ramps in appropriate locations should be a relatively simple but highly value-added convenience to provide for guests. Also upgrading electrical outlets to contain USB A and USB C charging outlets for electronic devices alongside the normal power outlets would be really helpful."
"The Staff were helpful.
Breakfast was disappointing. First morning there was no bread and had to request same. There was no variety, the same thing each morning.
The bar had no beer either bottled or draught.
The room was basic to say the least. No wardrobe or places to store my clothes.
There were no net curtains on the window and it was easy for someone from the houses opposite to look right into my room. There were no bedside cabinets to put things on.
There was no facility to get something to eat in the evening.
There was no safe to put valuables in."
