Liked: Staff & service
The building itself was okay, if not very old fashioned. The pool area was nice but limited to 8 at a time so we had to wait a little while. The room had almost no plug sockets and no WiFi in the rooms which wasn't ideal when signal is poor. Staff were lovely and very helpful when the electricity went out when we got in. Beds were comfortable and overall not bad but limited in what it provides.
Staff were lovely and helpful. BUT….. black mould in the bathroom! Enough to trigger my asthma. Breakfast was cold every day and the coach holiday people were always seen to first! I requested some toast for my little one and never got it. The high chair was disgusting…… mould in the creases! We did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel for this reason.
The pool was nice however!
We stayed here for the Boardmasters festival and it was ideally located being so close to several beaches and where the buses stopped to take you to Boardmasters. The reception staff were lovely and very welcoming. The hotel could use some updating but it was clean and tidy. We didn't have any shower gel in the bathroom which was a shame but there was a Tesco 2 minutes up the road so we could pick some up. The hotel has huge potential and it is a big hotel with a quiet floor but there were just a few little things that let it down.
Lift not working and not being fixed,
Shower very very slow just dribbled out,
Bar only open a couple of hours a day Manager not very helpful other staff excellent.
They didn’t allow us to check in even 5 minutes before we waited hour and minutes the lady is friendly however but other staff are quite rude and they didn’t guide to room which was hard to hard to find because we had to go through the quiet room which doesn’t make sense … the lift wasn’t working too and even then the lift only allowed 4 people. The pool however does not be used by the coach guests that come here so you basically get a private pool. Caution some of the tiles in the pool can cut you!
The hotel was awful, dirty. Couldn't have dinner hotel to busy. Breakfast had to be pre ordered, then one breakfast was forgotten. Had to keep asking for items. The poached eggs were rock hard. The whole experience was a nightmare. Found cut dirty toe nails on the bed. cobwebs in the bedroom. Pool area was terrible. Hotel needs a complete refurb. Some photos couldn't be uploaded.
We booked what was meant to be a relaxing babymoon through Trivago, specifically choosing this hotel because it advertised a pool, entertainment, and a functioning restaurant. Less than 24 hours after booking, we received an email stating the pool was closed, there would be no entertainment, and the restaurant would only be serving breakfast during our stay – all due to the Boardmasters Festival (which we had no interest in and didn’t even know was taking place). This information was not disclosed at the time of booking.
On arrival, we politely asked about the pool and were met with an incredibly rude and patronising response: “You can go to the beach” (despite bad weather), followed by “Do you have a shower in your room? Well, there you go!” and even a sarcastic “I’ll buy you a paddling pool for your room.” This was not only unprofessional, but insulting.
The bar was only open between 3–7pm, leaving nothing to do. The room looked nothing like the photos – stains down the walls, outdated furnishings, and paper-thin walls meaning we heard everything from neighbouring rooms. Instead of the peaceful break we booked, the atmosphere was more like a youth hostel due to the hotel catering to festival-goers. This is not acceptable when you’re 8 months pregnant and in need of rest.
To make matters worse, other guests told us they also felt misled.
The customer service was ultimately the worst we have ever experienced and would caution anyone thinking of staying here!
I am so unhappy with my stay here, I feel I have wasted £100. We were down for the night for a wedding made to feel like kids given a wristband we were not allowed to take off or not allowed back in and we had to wear it to a wedding party. We had to leave out key with our belongings in the room which I did not feel comfortable with and other hotels do not do this. They told me by the way night staff wear body cams which them scared me to think what is going on here? The room was old tv was the size of my laptop and the bathroom full of black mold on top the shower which I have a picture of. There was a group outside the entrance right under our window around 2am chatting and laughing which was so so loud we barley slept, you can hear everyone walking up the stairs and every little creak from other rooms. Over all I was so unhappy and out of pocket for this stay I wish I had stayed in my car.
SHOCKING SERVICE WE WAITED 30 mins to seat for breakfast then another 30 mins and no one took our order so we left even tho we paid for breakfast and had to spend more money then expected to find other food. The rooms are old fashaned and light shades dirty then on the Sunday we went for a drink in the bar and there was no service And no one at the reception to ask 30 mins later someone come back and didn’t even apologise. The only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool.

Room very small, parking facilities very poor, not allowed to have breakfast due to a high number of people, privacy on the room not safe,
Something unique about the property was the inch of dust on top of the wardrobe and the dead flys, absolutely lovely!

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
No one at reception when we tried to check in. keys were given without asking for our identification and meals times not adequately or not at all presented to us. We had to keep guessing things by ourselves and asking around that it felt like we were bothering them? We had to keep chasing after our tails which can be exhausting?
Very run down and dirty, except for the pool area. Did not sleep a wink. My son slept on the floor as his mattress on the bunk bed was shaped like a banana/hammock (old and worn). Felt like the people next door and above were with us in our room!! Noise levels the worst I’ve experienced. BUT! The staff were friendly and helpful, not their fault the hotel is in a state.
The room was disgusting and wasnt cleaned from top to bottom. Lights out ,shower gela in the bathroom.wete empty . Hairs in bedding and drawers . Stains on all cabinets and walls .
The amenities is very poor..no AC..smell stink in bathroom..the whole time night and day window is open..i'd rather stay in lodge than in hotel like this..i thought its a nice one because its a 5* hotel..its not even 1*..this hotel needs renovation..not recomended sorry
We left after an hour. The first room was dirty with hair on the floor and coffee stains on the furniture and wallpaper hanging off the wall, but the biggest issue was the mould on the wall. The second room was as bad just no mould. To be fair the guy on reception gave me a refund straight away and kept apologising and said the hotel was due a renovation, but doesn’t excuse how dirty it was.
Booked into a triple room with 2 friends and the booking said 3 single beds, they put a double and a single bed in there! The manager blamed Hotels.com! There was mould on the walls, the bathroom grouting was disgusting and parking is a joke! Very tired place…
Hotel rooms extreamly basic ans dated, not worth the £200+ a night. The 'communal' ironing room had 4 ironing borads but only 1 iron for the whole hotel.
