"We stayed for one night, and while the location is excellent just a 2-minute walk to Bowen’s Wharf it was extremely disappointing.
About 20 minutes after checking into our room, a maintenance employee unlocked and entered our room without knocking or announcing himself. We were in the middle of changing clothes, and it was a very frightening experience. I immediately called the front desk using my personal phone because the room phone wasn’t even plugged in. The manager’s response was to say that if we didn’t feel safe, we could stay somewhere else. He offered a $50 reduction off the nightly rate, which we did not feel was an appropriate response to such a serious privacy and safety concern.
Regardless of whether a room is occupied, hotel staff should always knock and announce themselves before entering. This incident left us feeling uncomfortable for the remainder of our stay.
Unfortunately, there were several other issues as well. The carpets were stained throughout the property, the water pressure in the shower was very poor, the body wash dispenser was completely empty, and the room had a strong musty odor that caused both of us to wake up feeling congested. I do want to recognize the late-night front desk employee, who was very kind, professional, and understanding.
The location is the property’s strongest feature, but due to the privacy violation, lack of accountability from management, and condition of the room we would not stay here again or recommend it."
