Elif Star was a great small hotel for our and a friend's two night trip to see Cappadocia. The rooms were pleasant, the water was hot, the bed comfortable, and breakfast sufficient. Our hosts were welcoming. Right in Goreme but a block or two up from the busier downtown, the location was quiet and accessible. Kadir was very helpful and friendly. The weather did not cooperate for a balloon ride this time but it was good enough for sightseeing. We enjoyed shopping at Sultan's Charm for Turkish bath towels and scarves.
Very helpful and nice staff (Kadir, Mustafa & others) who go above and beyond expectations to make your stay comfortable. (Including help after we left, posting some small items left in bedside table to another country)
We had a great time, saw amazing scenery, through green sightseeing tour & hot air ballooning - must do when in the area!
Loved our stay and loved the area!
Great service by Kadir and his family. Good location from centre of goreme

The cave house is good, and the staff is great! The tour I booked from this hotel also great including horse riding、ATV riding, hot air balloon, and green line.
great place to stay. Lovely surroundings, Great facilities, clean and comfortable, and pleasantly cool. Kadir and his family were amazing hosts. They couldn't have been more helpful, kind and hospitable. We had health issues while there and they certainly went above and beyond to help us.
In my observation, you get good service at this hotel if you are (a) young and pretty female (b) book tours through hotel. If you do not fall under category (a) or (b) you are not valued as a guest and the service is indifferent.
Having just finished 5 weeks of travel through Europe we would have to say this is definitely our favourite place. Our son and his fiancé were also with us, they have been travelling Europe and UK since September 2014 also voted this their favourite in all their travels.
What a unique location in the world. Kadir was so helpful from when we booked our room through to our airport pickup, tours and airport drop off. Lovely family run business. Not flash but clean and comfortable and so so cheap. Nothing is too much trouble.
Nice, neat family-run establishment, very hospitable hosts. A true cave-like experience.

Wonderful Staff, Enjoyable Stay
A warm and wonderful couple runs this cave hotel that is just a few minute walk from the center of Goreme. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and breakfast can be eaten on the patio, or inside. The manager, who is also the tour guide, is very helpful and knowledgeable about his area. A day tour with him is definitely worth while, for both the experience and the price. The hotel is also priced fairly and I would definitely stay there again.
We stayed in a room with a patio overlooking a beautiful landscape. The patio was the highlight of our stay. Also, the Turkish breakfast was something I really enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel to other people wanting to come here.
Good hotel with good location, close by to many amenities. The manager was very helpful with booking and picked my parents to and from airport as agreed.
At the Elif Star Cave Hotel one experiences staying in a cave with a wonderful view and a charming family staff. Our room was quirky with a platform covering part of the floor (probably due to a stone). The accommodations are not luxurious but are comfortable and receive high marks for character.. The decor with Turkish rugs and accessories was charming. The room was dim, which was appropriate for a cave. We had to do our reading on the balcony which even had the best night lighting. The breakfast was substantial and tasty. We had dinner there one night and it was a lovely experience. Hosted by the father (motel manager), cooked by the wife, served by father, teenage sun, and preteen daughter. The younger son provided entertainment - dancing and gymnastics. The wine was made by the wife's uncle. One of the most memorable meals we had in Turkey.
The hotel room was very good, fully made of caves. We just stayed one day at the hotel and did the South Cappadocia tour. Kadir was a good host and very friendly. The stay at the hotel and the tour with him was very good.
This hotel is a beauty, impeccable, and the best service ever, booked also his tour and recommended without hesitation, kadir knows well his town history, enjoyed every moment of his tour, great lunch too.
The hotel is family run, its set in an ideal location and the rooms are great, perfect if you want a cave room . The town centre is a few minutes walk away. The manager Kadir can arrange all your tours at a price much cheaper than other tour providers and he provides an excellent service. Overall it a very friendly, ideally situated lovely place to stay for a visit to Cappadocia.
Very quiet area of town, while still close to everything. Kadir was very helpful helping arrange cars, air balloon trip and providing information on other sights.

Quaint Cave Hotel
The Elif Star is roughly a five minute walk from the city centre, and is situated on a quiet street. They serve a decent breakfast to get you started for the day, and the staff is overall friendly. However, we did notice a change in our treatment as guests after it was discovered that we had booked a tour through an outside company. This, unfortunately, negatively impacted our time at the Elif Star.

Lovely hotel
The friendliest, most helpful staff I've ever encountered. As well as answering questions, they were full of ideas and suggestions. Charming, lovely, warm, intelligent people who made every day of the week we spent with them a true pleasure.
This hotel was awesome. The owner insisted on bus station pick ups and drop offs (free) even tho the hotel is only 500m away. The views from the hotel are awesome and he rooms themselves are so cool! THe owner was also extremely helpful with information about tours, but also with tips for those who would prefer to DIY, like us. Would definitely recommend this place!
This hotel is great! The cave-rooms are fantastic and the owners are very friendly and helpful.
The owner is a tour guide as well so he even took us for a semi-private customised tour!
I totally recommend staying here.
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Kadir and his wife are wonderful hosts, offering big, spacious rooms and the most delicious breakfast ever!!! Kadir is very knowledgeable about the area and can help with hikes and tours.
I enjoyed this hotel. I had my own private room. It was a bit crowded in there as they had two large beds. My room was a little dark as the windwos were small. What the other reviewers said about lack of hot water at night is true. But overall, they are very warm and welcoming. Private bathroom was very clean. Free Wifi at their reception is consistent. Good value for the price.
We were told that the hotel has changed management and for that reason is not what it used to be. The hotel is well located and the rooms are clean. But there was a leak in the bathroom and parts of the ceiling were falling. The front desk is there not to help you but to sell you their own tours. Nobody stays at the front desk during the night and no phone to contact the management in case of a problem.
Was a spectacular experience for our first day and first time in Turkey. Perihá^ the manager is a friendly and special person, she always helped us and was ready for assist us. The breakfast is very good and abundant, and always offer coffe or tea, the apple tea was my favorite.
This hotel is a real cave hotel, our room was in the last floor with view to montains and it really looked the cave style
The location is good because is a walking distance from everything.
We definitely we recommend 100% this hotel.
Elif Star was great with their managerial staff ... the 2 Ali men ... very accommodating in every way. İ would highly recommend the Elıf. İt is about a 10 min downhill walk to town center and bus station so is not centrally located BUT the surrounding neighborhood is quiet. İ spent 12 days-nıghts there and hiked 7 times into the valleys. towns. etc and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the area and my cave hotel once İ returned from long and tiring days. İ stayed in 2 rooms during my 12 days as a single guest and both were spacious. A cave room tends t o be damp but the Elif has radiators for heating.
The hotel is 5 mins walk from the main shops. The rooms are clean and built into a cave, but with some modern extensions. So you have functioning toilets and heaters. Some rooms have a terrace with lovely views. Note that the wifi doesnt reach if you're deep in the cave.
The hosts are very helpful. They reply to emails quickly and can arrange airport pickup. The breakfast is cooked fresh and tasty. The will book trips which are competitively priced.
Elif Star is lovely, clean, cosy and quiet hotel with large rooms and friendly hosts.
bekijk zeker eens Goreme 's avonds: zeer mooi verlicht
Show de Bola!!
My worst experience on my whole 1 month trip through Europe was in this hotel. My girlfriend and I arrived at midnight and the hotel host (will not mention his name) greeted us by first saying "we have a problem" and then arbitrarily decided to charge us 120 euro for a service we hadn't asked for (I had requested a tour quote 2 months prior to our trip -only a quote- and he decided to interpret this as an intention to acquire his services. Only the day before we arrived to Kapadokya he wrote a confirmation email which I obviously did not see because we wew traveling) Since I told him I was not going to pay, he grabbed one of our bags and told us that if we didn't pay, he would not give us back OUR bag. I really thought this was going to get violent. He then ripped the reservation and told us that we could not stay in his hotel (this was at 12:30 am). I agreed to pay him 50 TL for the airport pickup and then gave us back our bag. We left the hotel and had to go knocking at every other hotel in Gorem asking if there was vacancy, carrying 4 heavy travelling bags with us. Once we found a new hotel, which was very expensive considering it was a last minute reservation, we had to rearrange our tour because every pick up was referenced to Elif Star and we were scared that the man we are talking about would cancel everything as a retaliation or something. We went to sleep at 2am.
