"Felt like a Vegas hotel, without the cigarette smoke. It is basically like a mega resort. Nothing personal or intimate about it. Paying close to $100 a day in resort fees, one might think that would include a morning yoga class or time on the pickle ball courts. It did not. One had to rent the court time, and rent paddles and balls separately. It occurred to us that nobody on hotel staff smiled. With a service charge of 15% added to every charge, there was no incentive for the employees to “earn” their tips. Food was mediocre and service was slow and impersonal. For the prices, we expected much better on both counts.
Room was very nice with a great ocean view. But housekeeping never made it to our room before 3 pm each day. One day they had not come by 4pm so we ended up putting the do not disturb sign out as we wanted to be in the room after spending the day out. Overall did not meet our expectations- we will not be back."

"I booked in March and paid. When we arrived in May there were no rooms available. We couldn’t check in, so we left our bags with the front desk to find dinner.
Frankly, the hotel should have sprung for dinner in the hotel while we waited for a room.
When a room opened up it was comfortable and clean.
The rest of the hotel is looking a little worn, but comfortable beds.
The manager was great, smiled a lot, and if you needed something he was on it.
The front desk staff was polite."
"Some employees were great. A few at the check in were not. The piano bar area smelled very bad. There were fruit flies in the beverage area. The Room TV had very few enjoyable channels. The music around the pool was ridiculously loud part of the time. They should add chili and onions for their hot dogs.
The food was good. The beach and pool were excellent. Most of the staff were friendly. My room was clean. The view from my room and the beach was wonderful.
I will probably stay there again."
"rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at SLS Baha Mar was honestly one of the most disappointing luxury resort experiences I’ve ever had.
The location itself is beautiful — that is the one clear positive. Unfortunately, almost everything else fell far below expectations for a property marketed as upscale or luxury.
The service across the resort was consistently rude and indifferent, with only a few exceptions. The property appears severely understaffed, and it shows everywhere — restaurants, pools, housekeeping, bars, and guest services.
The cleanliness and maintenance issues were alarming:
• The first night we ate at The Swimming Pig, I ended up with food poisoning.
• At the waterpark, an unsecured umbrella flew over and struck an older woman in the head because it was not properly installed. Instead of addressing the actual safety issue, staff simply closed all umbrellas in the park afterward.
• At Katsuya, there was standing water in the hallway with no warning signs. My son slipped in it, and staff initially attempted to deny it even happened.
• Despite having reservations, we were seated outside near an area that smelled strongly like sewage.
• Pool towel service was unavailable for hours at a time.
• Bars were so poorly stocked that martinis were being served in regular drinking glasses because they “didn’t have martini glasses.”
The rooms are dated, worn, and not particularly clean. Overall, the resort felt much closer to a 2.5–3 star hotel"
"Rooms were very clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and efficient. The resort has a pool, waterpark, and a beach on the canal. Also very close to many restaurants, shops, cafes, and stores. I've been going to The Bahamas for 30 years, but had never stayed here. I would highly recommend this for singles, couples, and families. It is closer to the airport than many other options and in a very nice neighborhood. When entering the rooms, the A/C is already on, which is even more inviting, especially when arriving on hot days and after a flight. The only criticism would be the noise in some of the rooms from other vacationers with loud children, but I would still choose this over other options. This is also close to the best beaches on the island and without all of the overstimulation of some resorts. However, if one wanted to go to any of the destinations in the West, this is close, and"
