"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "Lovely hotel, with excellent Japanese breakfast, and kind and helpful staff always willing to go out of their way to help bewildered foreign children. (They even let us check in early when they saw how exhausted my son was.) Rooms also very reasonably priced!"
