"Excellent and friendly staff.
Room was very comfortable
Breakfast was good.
Great location for exploring
Park at the overflow lot was a great alternative for us."
"We loved our room at Hotel Hafnia. We were in the annex building. We did have to carry luggage a bit to get there, but the room was very nice and shower pressure was good. Our daughter slept in the loft area. Highly recommended. A bit of noise at night but overall great!"
"Be sure to check tunnel charges during your stay. You may be better off staying in Torshavn rather than staying here and making multiple trips through the tunnels."
"Overall a 4.7 rating. I would absolutely book with them again if I ever return to the Faroe Islands. But it's about expectations.
The three of us who stayed in the boathouse don't require much.
The common area was wonderful, with a view of the channel, the breakwater, and the small harbor. It was the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee to watch the sky lighten in the morning, or have dinner and drinks in the evening after a long day exploring the islands.
I love that there was a kitchenette where I could make breakfast for our trio before we headed out for the day.
The boathouse was clean, well-kept, and very cosy.
You'll need a rental car because it's in the middle of nowhere (which is part of what makes it great). There are two grocery stores, a liquor store, and two pizza places within a 5-minute drive.
A couple "warnings" for travelers used to nice hotel rooms:
1) The beds (and the rooms they're in) are *tiny*. My bed was about 18" (0.5m) wide. That's not a complaint, just information.
2) For North Americans: bed linens are European-style "bottom sheet and duvet w/ cover". If you're looking for NA-style bedding, you'll want to look elsewhere.
3) Hot water for showers is limited. Set the temperature to "warm" and the flow to "eco" and you'll get a good shower.
Lítlastova is an absolutely wonderful place to stay for those who want a cozy place to stay and can take care of themselves."
"Perhaps I misunderstood the dynamics of The Bird, however I was not happy with the experience and was thankful to find a hotel. I paid for two nights I didn’t use I was so unhappy.
- one bath shared by many rooms and people.
- no dark curtains to shade the 4am light
- nowhere to put anything away in the room! Not even a hook for a coat.
Unless you are happy with a hostel, avoid this."
"The room was clean and had a beautiful view. We also tried the restaurant on the second floor — the food was very good and the view made the experience even better.
However, there were several inconveniences that made the stay disappointing. The spa situation was frustrating: even hotel guests have to pay around $80 for only 2 hours, including mandatory use of their swimsuits and slippers. You also have to walk outside to reach the swimming pool.
Another issue was that our room was very far from the lobby, and we had to walk a long distance just to get ice. On top of that, the fridge in our room was not working, which made it extremely inconvenient if you want to keep food or drinks for an early morning excursion. The hotel also charges additional resort/tourist fees.
Overall, the stay had some positive aspects, but the extra charges and inconveniences are the reason for my 3-star review."
"This property is at the edge of Torshavn. The area around the hotel is fully safe, but it is commercial with limited eating choices. It is about a 25 minute walk to the harbor area where most of the shops and restaurants are located. It is frustrating to have to walk from the front entrance of the hotel through the parking lot and up the driveway to be able to walk anywhere. This property was not designed with pedestrians in mind. The room was clear and a good size. A bit of an odd arrangement with separate chambers for the toilet and the shower. The included breakfast was good. Be aware that it gets crowded at peak times. An intriguing detail was that the hotel had a turf roof."
"We stayed about a week in early May. The Havgrim can best be described as cozy and intimate with a handful of rooms. Beautiful sea view and easy walk into town. Breakfast is lovely - and saves you from having to get breakfast in town as there are limited restaurants. I would say depending on the direction of the wind you can hear larger trucks leaving Torshavn from your room if you are super sensitive to noise , otherwise you can hear the ocean waves. A lovely stay!"
