The best of welcomes, amazing breakfasts, and the most tranquil of settings

We had a brilliant welcome by the staff who couldn't have been more helpful in explaining where to park, best route to see the sights and good restaurants. Lovely breakfast too. We opted for the "comfort" room and had an extremely spacious cave room. couldn't have been better

We had a lovely stay at the Cenobio Hotel. It is in an old convent and the architecture is beautiful. We had room 6 which was comprised 2 sleeping areas, with wonderful arched ceilings and built from the original stone. We had a large terrace outside with an incredible view over the gorge. To get to the hotel, we parked in a car park reserved by the hotel. The hotel then booked us a taxi to collect us from the car park and bring us to the Piazza Duomo which is as near to the hotel as you...

The entire experience was great. Great hospitality, superb cave bedroom, excellent breakfast selection, complimentary bottle of local wine, even a good restaurant right next door (unrelated to the hotel). No car parking at all but for €15 a valet service picks up the car, parks it away from the restricted zone and brings it back at 15 minutes' notice. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous hotel, restored thoughtfully in Matera tradition. Staff were very helpful and communication prior to our visit was great. Restaurants were recommended and booked for us and trips arranged.

A very smart and well decorated apartment with 3 en suite bedrooms and a kitchen/diner set up like a cafe bar. We had 2 rooms, both excellent. Good air conditioning ensured a good night's sleep in very warm weather period - 35-38°c . Donna Gina was very friendly and looked after our every need, serving breakfast although self-service is possible. Multiple choices for breakfast and fresh, locally made croissants were brought in by Donna. Delicious!

Amazing location in the heart of Matera. Simple but nice breakfast. Our room was quiet and comfortable bed and pillows. Great shower with mood lighting!

I stumbled across this hotel whilst looking at a 5* property. I’m so glad I booked here. The owner Roberto and his colleague Francesco were so welcoming. The room I booked was fabulous. The wellness room with jacquzzi and Sauna on a separate level. The communication before arrival and check in was brilliant. Car parking booked and the hotel was easy enough to find. The views from the hotel of the sassi are amazing. The breakfast was so nice, something for everyone. On checkout we had a good chat...

Great location, yet quiet. Rooms were a good size.

Property is in a great location, a short walk from Matera. It is very modern, clean and provides great amenities. The room was spacious and I was lucky enough to have a little terrace outside my room. The staff member on reception was very friendly and helpful! They apparently have a car park round the park but I managed to find some free on street parking (white marked spaces on the main road just before you turn in to Via Gagarin). If I ever come back to Matera I will stay here again!

Really good location, quiet and with good amenities. The owner made all the difference to our stay, with help getting there from the airport, advice on places to visit, transport links and good venues for food. Brilliant stay, we loved every moment!
