"This hotel met our expectations in every way. Beautiful clean rooms. Warm inviting staff. Ideal locations. Great value. If we ever end up back in Matera we would seek to stay here again."
"Absolutely recommend staying here! the hotel was beautiful, the beds and pillows so so comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful and the staff were so attentive, kind and helpful. Matera is a beautiful place to visit and quite special to be able to stay right in the centre. We had access to a little patio table and it allowed us to soak up the views of this historic UNESCO site as much as we wanted. Location is also great - made it very easy to swing by our room in between each activity of the day to refresh; very important with the heat in this town. We also tried out the baths - very relaxing and worth it. Make sure to call or email the hotel to book a timeslot for the baths - you don't get a discount if you book online, even if you are staying at the hotel."
"There were 2 families traveling (1 family of 3 and the other was us, a couple) this was our 4th trip to Matera and 1st for our friends (family of 3). I booked this hotel because, the place we normally stay was not available. If you are reading this review, and are booking through Expedia, just know that a “standard” room is NOT cave lodging. The woman checking us in (I’m sorry that I don’t have her name) upgraded our friends to a luxury deluxe suite. I was very happy about this because I wanted this Matera experience for them. Everything else was perfect and would stay again but I’ll make sure that I’m staying in a cave room."
"Wow !!! Stop looking you have found a gem !!
Amazing room with a lovely terrace to enjoy aperitivo.
Great staff with great recommendations, help , friendly.
Breakfast was excellent
If you have a car follow their instructions. Great to park car & do transfer .
This town deserves to spend a few nights to really enjoy this unique experience
Thank you again amazing staff"
"FULL STOP! BOOK IT! Anne, Giuseppe and Angela in the breakfast room are ALL AMAZING! The entire staff was kind and supportive of even helping me talk italian because I was in language school. Get the parking information in advance and reserve your spot. They will arrange for a pick up at the garage and you don't have to schlepp your luggage which in Matera can be challenging. I absolutely LOVED this property and I have traveled to 37 countries. Charming - unique and I simply adored the cave experience."
"Fabulous hotel right beside the Duomo/Cathedral in Matera. The rooftop terrace overlooked the old Sassi and the town. Room was lovely and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful"
"We loved our stay at here. Hotel is in a great location with an amazing view on the ravine and the oldest part of Matera. Restaurants in walking distance and well placed within the city. Staff was SUPER helpful, even helping us through a crazy situation when our rental car was almost towed from the free parking because of a misunderstanding about when it would close for the city to mow. Thank goodness their shuttle driver was there to translate the situation to the police! They even offered to pay the ticket we got since they had suggested this parking (not knowing that the city would be closing it to mow). Breakfast was great with a variety of options from proteins to pastries. The only thing I would suggest to the hotel is adding a dehumidifier to each cave room. There was a bit of a musty smell in the room and it was quite humid making the linens feel almost damp. I’m sure this is normal for a cave, but I do think a dehumidifier would help! Beds were very comfortable and ac worked well. Overall a fabulous stay!"
"All it was an excellent location. You are right in the heart of the Old Town. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly If I had a negative it would be the lack of in room copy period and do not follow Google map directions as it will lead you in the wrong direction"
"Matera was a surprised beautiful town. be ready to climb steps no other way to go around it. the hotel is very well located and very organized it was a unexpected pleasure"
