Puerto Banús Travel Guide

Marbella

A residential area with houses, trees, and mountains in the background.
A beach with thatched umbrellas, a mountain in the background, and a coastal town.
A public park with a blue-tiled fountain, palm trees, a bench, and a view of the ocean.
A coastal town with a prominent mountain in the background, lush greenery, and residential buildings.

Stay in a fashionable resort town on Spain’s Mediterranean coast that is a favorite haunt of the rich and famous.

Puerto Banús is one of the most exclusive enclaves in southern Spain, a Mediterranean resort town of luxury properties, designer boutiques, upscale restaurants and a marina filled with multimillion-dollar yachts. This may be where the extremely wealthy come to shop, sunbathe and party but this prestigious destination has a lot to offer everyone, whatever their budget.

The focal point of the resort is Puerto Banús Marina which has long been a hangout for the rich and famous. Stroll alongside the yachts and amid the port’s fashion stores and you may catch sight of film and pop stars, especially during the summer. If your budget doesn’t extend to designer clothes, there are high street brands a few steps away from the front line of the marina.

Walk a few minutes from the harbor to find the resort town's three beaches, Puerto Banús Beach, Playa Rio Verde and Playa Nueva Andalucía. Receiving more than 300 days of sunshine per annum, the beaches can be enjoyed throughout the year. Relax, enjoy a meal in a beach bar and try a range of exciting watersports.

Continue your exploration of the seaside town with a visit to Antonio Banderas Square. This plaza is named after the Spanish actor and director who was born in nearby Malaga. Stop for a drink in one of the bars and browse the open-air market for vintage clothing, handmade jewelry and arts and crafts products. The market is held every day during the summer and weekly on Saturdays for the rest of the year.

If you are into golf, play a few rounds on nearby courses. Puerto Banús is in a part of Spain that has been nicknamed the Costa del Golf because of its abundance of private and public clubs and courses.

At night, dine out on local dishes or in restaurants serving international cuisines. There are plenty of options especially in the area around the marina. Afterward, dance the night away in nightclubs and late-night pubs.

Puerto Banús is 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of Marbella. Ferry and bus services run between both seaside locations.
