"The staff, particularly Caroline and Kristina, were extremely welcoming. Great location within easy walking distance to the train station and close to sites in the center of old town. One of the best of the nine places that we stayed during our trip to the UK."

"Started with a booking issue via Expedia (small double rather than a king-sized bed booked) but resolved directly with the Hosts. Great location, opposite the park and lovely, solid furniture in the room. Parking permits available in the property for a small fee worked well. Just the shower could do with an update. If we visit again, I'd book a room with a bath."

"My main issue was extremely little vegetarian options . God help Vegans. Breakfast was ok but veggie sausage was anemic. I asked any tomatoes rather than baked beans . A firm No was the reply. No oh I'll get you some? Lunch and evening meals for vegetarian was either expensive or uninviting . I ate out.
Other than that the hotel and surround were nice enough.
Parking could be an issue, if an older person had to carry heavy bags from overflow car park . No disabled parking that I could see."
"Although clean enough inside, the outside is infested with seagull nests and droppings.
The building amenities were acceptable to poor, The bath plug did not have a chain, so needed to be pried out with a spoon handle. The coffee and tea soon ran out and didn't have any idea where to get replacements. The Coffee percolator did not work at all. The bath was supposed to have a Jacuzzi effect, this did not work either.
The decor is beautiful in places with leather sofa's and period furniture, a shame it didn't stop a family of kids using it as gym equipment."
"Used the hotel for a stop over. Good parking just 5 minutes away. Lovely room and great bathroom. Staff was welcoming and fantastic to deal with. I would highly recommend and certainly use this hotel again."
"Staff very friendly and helpful.
Dining room staff couldn’t do enough for you and kept tables tidy and clean
Breakfast -disappointed with the cooked selection. My husband is gluten free (which I put on the booking form)
Bread and cornflakes available.
He couldn’t have the hash browns or sausage as not GF and there was only scrambled egg available.
No fried/boiled/poached eggs
When my husband asked the chap filling up the cooked items, whet was gf he was quite abrupt.
Will consider this when booking again
Apart from this we had a nice stay, hotel handy to get into York centre."
"Standard room. Very satisfactory.
Entrance was being refurbished. Safety of guests was of the utmost importance to the staff. A free glass of bubbles was given as a gesture of goodwill."
"My room was in an annexe with no window, there was a skylight in the corner but the only way to open it and open and close the blind was to stand on a rickety chair.
In the bathroom the grabrail by the bath was hanging off the wall so I would be very worried about grabbing it while getting in or out of the bath.
Overall the furniture was not the best quality with wonky drawers not closing.
The bed and bedding was very comfortable.
Overall it was fine but u would probably choose a different hotel in York for my next work stay"
