"The cottage is fine and it is in a nice location BUT the details of the cottage listed on the Expedia website and Sykes Cottages are different and misleading. Expedia shows the cottage to be within the Penzance city centre & 8 minute walk from the ferry terminal. The cottage is 8 miles (13 kms.) from the Penzance city centre. "The hotel is well situated on the main road in Long Rock with parking. It was a good price with breakfast.There's a bus stop nearby for buses to Penzance, St Ives, Truro etc. The hotel has a bar for residents and locals. The room was basic but clean with a comfortable bed, tea/coffee supplies, a small wall mounted TV and a sink. The staff were friendly and helpful. I booked through Hotels.com and it wasn't obvious that the bathrooms are shared, in fact there's no mention of it. I did book a 'basic twin room' and I expected an en suite, although for the price I paid, maybe that was a stretch. The downside of being on the main is a lot of traffic noise. The wifi wouldn't connect in the room but it did downstairs in the bar."

"The hotel / inn is very old. I booked this inn because of beautiful picture uploaded in Expedia for sea view. But turn out I made a really bad decision. The sea view on spot is fair only but most importantly, the property is very old. I guess the room decoration has been used for 20 to 30 years with very min. level of maintainance. Just going inside the toilet, I see hair in the sink. Some rubbish is not yet collected. A chair seat has left over of chips. There is no hand held splinker which is very inconvenient for doing shower. No air conditioning and only a fan is provided. The carpet is very old. The toilet is so small. I can't enjoy the sea view actually as my room is just located on the first floor, below is the restaurant that people sitting outside. It is seriously overpriced. For the price I paid, I would expect decent property condition, but not like that."

"We stayed for one night after travelling to Penzance from Norwich ready to catch the Scillonian boat to the Scilly Isles. We arrived at the end of the current heat wave so our twin room (Room #1) which overlooked the street was boiling hot and the window could only be opened a couple of inches for safety reasons. Otherwise it was fine, although the shower room was rather cramped. The staff were friendly and helpful, even bothering to ring us to tell us they had found my husband's cap which he'd left in our room by mistake, and the breakfast (buffet style) was very good. The hotel is very close to the train station and only a short walk to the ferry terminal, so this is a good place to stay if travelling by rail. It is also near a public car park so a very convenient place to stay and not too expensive."

"Don't know where to start... I booked a standard double room, based on the pictures I saw online. They should have to tell you there isn't enough room to have a full size suitcase and 2 adults in this room.the bed was so close to the wall it was hard to get in and out of bed. We had to rig a little corner shelf they had for tea and coffee to make our case fit. If you were just there for a night with a backpack fine, but we were traveling from the states for 2 weeks, so a big case was needed. The room itself was very clean, the bathroom was very roomy and bright. We did ask if there were other rooms available, unfortunately not for the first 2 nights, then we were able to move up to a king room. What a great room that was. The staff here was great. The breakfast was very good"

"A genuinely special place to stay. The setup was cosy and self-contained, with views of both the sea and across the garden, complete with horses! The cream tea waiting for us on arrival was such a lovely touch after the long drive, and the fresh croissants were a simple addition we appreciated every day. The hosts kept things fresh and tidy without ever being intrusive, which struck just the right balance. It's the kind of stay that feels looked after in a personal way you don't often find. Cornwall itself was wonderful, but having somewhere so homely, clean and welcoming to come back to each evening made the whole trip. We'd return without hesitation."
