If you like staying in the town center on a pedestrian street with warm and welcoming hosts, this is the place to be. This family-run guest house makes you feel right at home. They are attentive but not intrusive. If there is anything you need, they are there to help. Also their breakfast should not be missed. It was made to order and scrumptious!

Perfect accommodation
The accommodation was perfect. Clean, excellent breakfast, so much choice and could have as much as you could eat. Freshly cooked to your order. friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. It is a credit to Lynette and her staff. Would recommend this to all my friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful stay!
A charming guesthouse in a wonderful location, a stone’s throw from Lerwick shops & harbour. Also close to the fascinating Shetland Museum and the bus stop for buses to Sumburgh airport. The hosts Jim & Lynne were so friendly & accommodating and provided a very good breakfast. A delightful room with a very comfortable bed and everything really clean. I can’t fault this guesthouse and would stay there again.

Lynn and Jim made me extremely welcome and the breakfast given was second to none. There was everything in my room I could possibly need and if and when I return to Shetland I wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else.

This guest house is quite exceptional in all respects. The owners are generous in their welcome and ready to give any information or assistance you may require including the loan of books. Everything is kept immaculately clean. The breakfast is cooked to order and delicious. We cannot recommend it highly enough and would love to return.

Fabulous B&B in Lerwick centre
Hosts were just like friends - nothing too much trouble - took the time to talk & recommended a few 'must sees & do's' they were happy to look after our food requests too. Helped us out by taking our luggage to ferry terminal for us. Went out of their way to help us. Breakfast was superb. Fresh fruit salad, cereals,many types of teas,amazing choice of cooked breakfast. Can't recommend enough. If you need to stay in Lerwick then this is the place. Free parking not far away. Centre of town location.

Highly recommended
We spent 4 nights here. The breakfast was well cooked and wholesome. The room itself was very well maintained, spacious and came with lovely ensuite housing a nice hot, powerful shower. The real stars were our hosts who gave excellent advice on what to see and do in the Shetland Isles. Faultless stay.

Great guest house, great location, lovely owners
This is a lovely guest house right on the main high street whilst this has few cars and is quiet. The owners aren’t on site but we’re for breakfast every morning and couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. I saw no Hotel or other accommodation on Shetland I would rather have been in.

Exceptional B&B in Lerwick
Simply a delightful place, made perfect by the brother-sister team who took care of us there. They treated us like we were there very favorite people, and gave us outstanding advice on what to do and see and where to dine. Both were born and raised in Shetland. Great location too-right in the middle of town. Very high ommendation.

Just a wonderful place in every way!
Watching gulls fly past the window of the room was just magical. Lynne and Jim do a wonderful job with this B&B (both are fonts of local knowledge) - just a superb place for anyone thinking of exploring Shetland to stay.

This is the 4th property I have stayed in the Shetland Islands. It was the cleanest of all. Hosts were very nice and friendly. My only complaint is the sea gulls which, due to the very long days, made a lot of racket most of the time. I realize this is NOT the fault of Jim and Lynn, but it did make it difficult to sleep, and anyone staying here should be prepared for that.

This place does it right.
Our stay was delightful. The host and hostess are helpful and friendly as well as being very professional. There wasn't a single thing that we asked of them that they were not able to assist with. The room was very comfortable. It was clean and a congenial space in which to unwind. Everything was done right. Breakfasts were delicious and complete. And the location of the property just can't be beat--right in the heart of Lerwick, which makes it a very useful base. Roving out for evening strolls was easy and pleasant. (We were on-foot and the location might be cumbersome for those traveling in a vehicle, I can't comment on that.) Try as I might, I cannot come up with any suggestions for improvements (maybe darker curtains to help with those long summer nights?). I'm already looking forward to a chance to return to Shetland!

Lyn and Jim are such warm and welcoming hosts - we didn’t want to leave! The guest house is beautiful, and very conveniently located. I would recommend the Fort Charlotte Guest House to anyone.

I had a lovely time staying at the guest house. The rooms are cleaned daily and there is also a great breakfast provided in the morning. The guesthouse is right at the centre of town and its very convenient to get to places. I would 100% recommend staying here!

This place was fantastic. Unfortunately we were only able to meet the owner briefly before she had to leave. However, she left the house in the very capable hands of Corinne. She was fantastic. She made the best porridge I ever had in my life. She was also very knowledgeable of the area and made every effort to help us. The facilities were great. However you do have to navigate some stairs to get to get to your room. The house is close to the bay, downtown, and local shops. There is parking close by and we never had a problem finding a spot. When we return to Lerwick we will definitely be booking this house.

The perfect place to stay!
I spent five very enjoyable days here this summer. The place is very well run, spotlessly clean and right in the heart of Lerwick. The owner (and her sister in law) are extremely friendly and helpful and just a delight to stay with. I can recommend the scrambled eggs especially! ;-)

I cannot say enough good things about the Fort Charlotte Guest House. The location is wonderful, the guest house is charming and comfortable with great rooms, and the folks who run it are just the greatest. They were helpful to us in finding good tours to learn about Shetland and good restaurants for meals. They loaned us tour books and umbrellas. And the breakfast was a treat every morning. Stay here if you can -- you won't be sorry.

Fabulous hotel
Fort Charlotte is a splendid hotel. Room 2 is spacious,clean,simply fantastic. Everything you need for a great stay is here! A lovely comfortable king size bed. Large bathroom,great shower. Very large room too! Although I'm a non meat eater, breakfast choice was more than suitable with plenty of choice. If you are thinking of a stay in Lerwick,don't let this hotel pass you by!
