Quality hotel with excellent service…

We chose to stay at the Parador De Limpias as it has a good reputation and is only 40 mins drive from the Port of Santander. Unfortunately delays with our ferry started to make us concerned that we would arrive too late for an evening meal. However, when we contacted the Parador De Limpias from the ferry the staff proved to be very accommodating and put our minds at rest. They said that should the restaurant be closed when we arrived, they would make sure that there would be plates of cold food in our room. As it turned out we arrived at 10:00pm and had an excellent meal in the restaurant, which closed at 11:00pm. The Parador De Limpias is well appointed with all the facilities that you would expect from a quality hotel and is located in an interesting part of Spain. This is a very nice little hotel, literally a stone’s throw to the beach (Sardineros, but also very close to Camellos and Magdalena). I was in room 103, so main building and my experience was more like a bed and breakfast as there’s quite a lot of people traffic (footfall) noise from the corridors. But I am not a light sleeper, so it didn’t bug me. The breakfast was nice - I like it that you can buy a coffee and/or a coffee and a snack and pay a fair price. Very nice touch to have beach towels available. My bedroom was small, but for 1 person it’s ok. It’s a double bed so I don’t know if they would put a couple in. Bathroom also quite small but great water pressure. The only quibble I had was staff didn’t speak a lot of English - fine for me as I get by, but I can see this could be problematic. Also they weren’t very knowledgeable of things like bus schedules (I don’t mean specifics, but one of the reception ladies told me no bus running to the station on Saturday at 7am (which wasn’t true). Little things like those matter. Nice hotel in quiet area…

The hotel is in a quiet and safe residential area. An easy walk into town about 5 mins and 8 mins to the old town. The beach is amazing and only a couple of minutes from the hotel. There are several very good eating and drinking places both in the old and new town and a few minutes walk from the hotel. We had a room on the ground floor 2 separate beds put together but I understand there were rooms with one queen sized bed. The bathroom had a bathtub, toilet and bidet and basic toiletries were provided. This hotel does not have an elevator and there are stairs leading up to the front entrance. We managed with 3 suitcases but as there is no ramp it is worth considering if you have heavy suitcases. There was a very basic breakfast for 4 euros but we did not take up this offer. I have read some reviews that mention meals but there were no meals served for the time we were there. There is a lovely lounge area which is bright with comfortable furniture and the hotel is quiet. This area has access to a bar. The wifi worked very well. There was no heating but the rooms were quite warm and there is no air-conditioning but seabreeze from windows would do the trick. There is free parking in front of the hotel. The receptionists spoke good English and were very helpful and knowledgeable. Overall this hotel is very well priced and offers excellent value simply for the cost and location. I would definitely stay here again.…The hotel is in a quiet and safe residential area.
