Nice property that is located in a pretty good area in terms of bars and restaurants. Service is the best aspect of the hotel. I stayed in a room that could use some updating, however. I think other rooms probably have modern bathrooms based on the one in the lobby. The airport shuttle is convenient. The breakfast is a solid way to start the day. If you’re looking for another hip and tasty dining option popular with other young foreigners, check out the nearby Musicology cafe.
The grounds of the hotel are the highlight - beautiful views, gardens and drinking/dining areas both inside and outside.
The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Customer service is excellent.
Minor negative points are that the wifi is a bit hit and miss at times which can be problematic for business travellers, and there was a lot of construction noise near to our rooms, which started early and finished late. Not the end of the world, but bring earplugs.
The Summit Hotel was very welcoming after my long travels from the US. I got airport pickup even with a late arrival, cookies and plenty of water, and a delicious breakfast in the morning. The staff is so friendly and were constantly offering a helping hand with my luggage or opening doors. Mattresses are a bit uncomfortable, but Would 10/10 book again!
A pleasant hotel away from the dust and traffic of Kathmandu. The hotel organised a driver for sightseeing as well as airport transfers.
A lovely outdoor garden area to enjoy a drink and a meal. The restaurant had a good selection of Nepalese and Indian dishes as well as Western fare.
The main complaint is the need to buy bottled water beyond the first complimentary bottle, which is unusual when the tap water is unsafe to drink.
Overall it’s a nice hotel with a budget price.
The Summit Hotel Kathmandu is one of those gems you just keep going back to.
First visited with a large trekking groupback in 2013 on 2 occasions pre and post trekking, then in 2015 for trekking and this yr 2018 stayed on 3 occasions !
Reception staff are very attentive - make you feel special. Amazing cocktails and wonderful breakfast spread. Easy access walking to many local areas or short 500 R ride to Tamel. Highly recommended.
Great service and friendly staff at Summit. Rooms regularly cleaned, comfortable beds, towels and a few toiletries provided. Gym- small but functional with 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, a cross trainer and some weights. Pool bit on the small side but nice to sit around- towels and umbrellas provided. Food and drink good- Friday evening BBQ seems good value- although as a vegetarian opted for al a carte menu. Paneer and momos good, pizza not so good- particularly compared to pizzas at other nearby restaurants. Laundry service efficient- note this and any food and drink purchases are subject to a 23% extra charge in the hotel, 13% tax, 10% service charge- this is not the case in all surrounding pubs and restaurants (and laundrettes) but it is in some. No cider is served in hotel, but there is a pub 1 minutes walk away that does- and shows sport on TV. Quite a few nice restaurants and bars close by to try, Thamel and other areas a short taxi ride away. Aircon in room was good, but no safe in room. Very happy with stay.
This is always our preferred place to stay in Kathmandu. The location is excellent (near to lots of good restaurants, easy access to the centres of Kathmandu and Patan, quiet and peaceful). The food remains overpriced and not great. The bar is lovely, and would be a popular place if only they were to reduce the prices a bit to be in line with everywhere else. The hotel is a bit overpriced for what you get.
The service is excellent. The staff are really helpful, nice and professional. The garden and outdoor seating is beautiful. The menu is good overall. It is busy as it is a favorite of NGOs, diplomats and school groups. Good wifi and facilities including a gym and outdoor pool.
If you're considering staying at the Summit Hotel, do it! It's a great place with friendly staff that are very helpful with visiting Kathmandu. Clean, safe, and fun. Top notch breakfast included.

Liked: Staff & service
Adequate facilities.
No airport transfer, even though this was promised by Expedia. Otherwise, a reasonably comfortable hotel. Rooms adequate but no coffee/tea provided.
The hotel has a nice location, quiet surrondings and partial view to the city and mountains. Hotel staff is friendly and service minded. The hotel facilities are generally outdated and in need for a facelift. At arrival I was given a room in third floor (no elevators at the hotel) in the annex. The room was large, cold and sparcely furnitured. Outside was a building site with construction work beginning at 5 a.m. After a cold night with little sleep I asked for a new room. A friendly staff provided a new, smaller room with a garden view. They also promised that this room shold have proper heating, but charged an extra hotel fee for change of room. At any other hotel, this would have been complemantary, but not here. The new room was also sparcely furnitured, but did have functional heating. Breakfest was included, and ok - but some days there was limited supplies. The breakfest room was cold and most guests had their breakfest with outdoor jackets on. Also in the evening, no heating - but the staff lit a fire to provide some heating in the evenings. The hotel taxi was overprised and if staff provided taxi it would be the doble price compared to the ordinary taxi at the street corner outside the hotel. Also, currency exchange was charged with extra fees and more expencive at the hotel compared to money exchange just 50m down the street.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Ok stay
The facilities are very basic & not up to the 4 star standard. There is a telephone in the room, but no direction as to how to dial the reception or whatsever. overly pricy given the condition & services.
The buffet breakfast served daily was outstanding. Eating on the terrace, the staff was so nice to everyone and was their to help and serve your needs.
The beautiful grounds of The Summit in Nepal with gardens and plenty of green grass, is a plus, when grass is at a premium in this city.
How nice to be able to convers your American money to Nepale money anytime you needed to do so right at the front desk. Taxi service was right at your door when required to take you to anywhere you wanted to go.
I would recommend the Summit Hotel if your going to Kathmandu Nepal.
