It is an older hotel that was a charming both on the outside and in. It is also very conveniently located right up Main Street.
You do have to call to confirm your reservation and arrange to have your key waiting for you at the front lobby. Not a big deal except the number on the Expedia website is the only number listed and when I called it said the voice mailbox was full. However, someone called me back right away and I was able to make arrangements for check in.
There is no one at the front desk to ask for information. There is a Keurig coffee maker and microwave near the front desk. However, when I went to warm up my dinner, the power went out in that little area. I tried asking someone who I thought worked there and she said she was “only a tenant “ of the building.
There is only one elevator that is only used for housekeeping, so navigating up and down the stairs with my bad knees and my daughter with an ankle injury was challenging. It was also a little unnerving when I asked a cleaning crew person as we were checking out if we should leave our door unlocked. They said we could lock it if we wished, then proceeded to explain that the main doors are open 24/7 and there wasn’t anyone at the front desk, and that they have been vandalized before. Not a comforting way to end out weekend trip.
