Kvitfjell, or “white mountain,” is a modern ski resort amid the tree-lined mountain ridges of Ringebu. Developed in 1994 for the Winter Olympics hosted by nearby Lillehammer, Kvitfjell is well known for its competition-grade downhill runs and exceptional snowmaking capabilities. Grab some ski equipment from the rental facility if you didn’t bring your own gear and get ready to hit the slopes. Families and beginners will love the resort’s wide range of “nursery” and novice slopes. Children can learn to ski at Tussebakken, a fun-filled ski slope that is styled like a playground. A small cabin is available here for children to rest and play indoors.

There are steep black-graded runs and an extensive 1.8-mile (3 kilometre) run to cater to skiers and boarders looking for a challenge. Visit the resort’s exciting terrain park and practice tricks and jumps on the park’s kickers and ramps. You’ll also find a half-pipe and some quarter pipes at the park.

The ski season on Kvitfjell runs from November to April. The resort is located 2.5 hours north of Oslo by rail and by car, and Lillehammer is 32.7 miles (52.6 kilometres) away. Ski passes purchased at Kvitfjell include access to the nearby resorts of Skeikampen, Hafjell, Gålå and Sjusjøen.
