Ski and snowboard on wide snow-sure pistes at Norway’s Olympic-grade ski resort and you’ll find slopes for every skill level, excellent facilities and gorgeous Oppland views.

Kvitfjell, or “white mountain,” is a modern ski resort amid the tree-lined mountain ridges of Ringebu. Developed in 1994 for the Winter Olympics hosted by nearby Lillehammer, Kvitfjell is well known for its competition-grade downhill runs and exceptional snowmaking capabilities. Explore a wide variety of pistes or explore hundreds of miles of cross-country trails at this crowd-pleasing Oppland resort.

Grab some ski equipment from the rental facility if you didn’t bring your own gear and get ready to hit the slopes. Families and beginners will love the resort’s wide range of “nursery” and novice slopes. Children can learn to ski at Tussebakken, a fun-filled ski slope that is styled like a playground. A small cabin is available here for children to rest and play indoors.

Improve your skiing or boarding technique with private or group lessons. Instructors can also provide you with local insight into exciting new areas to explore. Discover the resort’s wide range of intermediate-graded slopes. More than 80 percent of the mountain’s slopes are covered by snowmaking facilities, so you’ll have a smooth run on almost every piste.

Check out the mountain’s different slopes using Kvitfjell’s convenient lift system. There are steep black-graded runs and an extensive 1.8-mile (3 kilometre) run to cater to skiers and boarders looking for a challenge. Visit the resort’s exciting terrain park and practice tricks and jumps on the park’s kickers and ramps. You’ll also find a half-pipe and some quarter pipes at the park.

Get a different perspective of the magnificent Oppland scenery with a cross-country skiing trip. You can access over 370 miles (600 kilometres) of backcountry trails from Kvitfjell.

Replenish your energy with a rest or a snack at the base village. Choose from several different cafés and restaurants serving Norwegian cuisine. There is ski-in ski-out hotel accommodation on the mountain and further lodgings a short bus ride away.

The ski season on Kvitfjell runs from November to April. The resort is located 2.5 hours north of Oslo by rail and by car, and Lillehammer is 32.7 miles (52.6 kilometres) away. Ski passes purchased at Kvitfjell include access to the nearby resorts of Skeikampen, Hafjell, Gålå and Sjusjøen.
