Golden Host Resort - Sarasota

8/10 Good

"Picked this spot for the pool and that it had a cool Tiki Bar. Super disappointed that we were told the pool closed at 8 because there was no lifeguard... It was literally still light outside and there wasn't a lifeguard all day! Figured at least we had the Tiki on site. Expensive drinks in a silent, awkward atmosphere. Sad because it has so much potential!"

"Estuve tres noches en ese hotel y nunca hicieron mi habitación, no cambiaron ni repusieron las toallas ni hicieron la cama ni absolutamente nada en mi habitación.Además, el aire era viejo y anticuado, y cada vez que encendía y apagaba hacía un ruido horrible que no permitía descansar bien. Las almohadas horriblemente duras, como si fuera poco el elevador no servía, así que tuvimos que subir y bajar escaleras. . En fin fui con una expectativa mucho más alta cuando reservé este hotel, ya que me parecía un hotel moderno y con muy buena ubicación, pero realmente le falta muchos detalles por mejorar.."

"This property is outdated, needs a lot of maintenance as their were many issues that need addressing. Door was very difficult to close, paint chipping in room, just overly worn out property reminded me of a lower tier resort. Their was a weird odor around the property from the water making it difficult to want to relax on their beach."

"The staff was great. Terrance at the front desk is very helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately during our stay, the main pool with closed for maintenance. The good thing was that we were allowed access to the pool at the hotel’s sister property next door. The beach was nice. White sand, lots of shells. A classic deck type bar and grill in the back, with live music. During the time we went the tide was just a tad stronger than a chill day, but walking or driving over to pass-a-grille on the east side or the beach at St. Pete pier; the water would be nice and calm. Great location, close to convenient stores and restaurants. Note: During our stay in early June, it was a predominantly boomer, Gen X and millennial crowd. Which came with some peace and quiet."

"The parking onsite is terrible. The hotel charges you $25/day for street parking but its by meter that you have to reup every 6 hours, or $45 per day for valet parking, but if you drive a truck, F250 etc, they can not park it, so you have to park it offsite, but still get charged $45, for valet when they can't park or get your vehicle. The AC in our room didn't work well and the hotel smelt old and moldy"
