Exactly what we needed

The Island Vibe staff was immensely helpful during our stay. The views of the beach and the ocean were incredible and the room was comfortable. We appreciated the emphasis on guest safety and the on-site bar and the available food options made it convenient to stay on-site after a long day of outdoor adventures. The buildings are older, but well maintained, and even though we stayed over a weekend at the height of the holiday season, our room (which was more private with its own bathroom) was quiet.

Good budget stay

We needed a budget place to stay for one night on our trip home and this room was perfect for that. Island Vibe is a bit of rowdy party place but the family rooms are in a separate building and despite the party in the bar area the room was quiet.

Kein Durchkommen in sehr unsicherer Umgebung

Leider hatten wir keinen Zugang zum Hostel, da die Straßen drumherum von der Polizei abgesperrt waren (1 Januar 2019). Weitere Straßen im Umfeld waren von tausenden von Menschen belagert mit Picknick, Grillen, Alkoholkonsum. Keine Möglichkeit in die Nähe des Hotels zu kommen. Die Gegend bis dahin schien uns zu unsicher zu laufen und auch zu weit entfernt. Daher mussten wir in der Hochsaison weit und lange fahren (bis Plettenberg) um vor Anbruch der Dunkelheit überhaupt noch eine Übernachtung zu bekommen. Den Preis vom Jeffreys Hostel haben wir trotz Nachfrage leider nicht erstattet bekommen. Uns war klar, dass es sich um ein einfaches Backpacker-Hostel handeln würde, was in Ordnung gewesen wäre. Aber dass wir erst gar nicht dahin gelangen könnten, war ein großer Schock zumal wir in Sorge waren, wo wir überhaupt noch unterkommen konnten.

Mysigt ställe, väldigt bra om man vill träffa folk, dock inte så passande om man vill ta det lugnt då stämningen var väldigt party-aktig. Superbra service och hyfsat nära till centrum.

Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass es sich um ein Backpacker Hostel handelt. D.h. sehr einfache Ausstattung. Im Beach Double hat es ziemlich gemüffelt. Der Blick aufs Meer ist toll, den Strand, auf den man schaut, soll man laut Rezeption aber nicht betreten (zu gefährlich ). Den Strand zur anderen erreicht man über eine mit Code gesicherte Tür. Diese ist leider bis halb 8 morgens noch zusätzlich mit einem Schloss versperrt,so dass man als Gast erst dann zum Strand kann (obwohl schon wunderschön die Sonne scheint). Der Umweg zum Strand (ca.10 Min durchs Wohngebiet ) erschien mir in der Gegend allein als zu unsicher. Das Hostel ist ein Stück vom Ort entfernt, zu Fuß nicht empfehlenswert.

vielfältige Jugendherberge in toller Lage

Das gebuchte Familienzimmer war bereits vergeben. Das Ersatzzimmer befand sich im ruhigeren Beach House, hatte sechs Betten und roch muffig. Die Matratzen waren gut. Die unteren Betten hatten wenig Platz nach oben.

Super Lage direkt am Meer. Witziges Personal. Die Sauberkeit und der Zustand sind nicht optimal aber die Lage macht das wieder top :-)

Surfer Camp

Leider haben wir nicht das angepriesene Zimmer mit Jaquzi bekommen, stattdessen ein modrig, feuchtes Zimmer mit schmutzigen Fenstern und auch der generelle Zustand ließ an Sauberkeit vermissen! Wer auf Sauberkeit Wert legt sollte definitiv eine andere Unterkunft wählen!

A decent backpackers

We had a nice double room with bathroom. There was a good vibe about the place and the bar area was enjoyable. The food was good. It is a backpackers hostel so I don't expect luxury - our room was lovely but our bathroom could have been better maintained i.e. no proper shower head, fluctuating water pressure and loose basin tap.

A localização deste hostel é muito boa, os passeios ofertados são excelentes e os preços muito bons também. O bar/cozinha são muito bons também, os preços são super baixos! Super recomendo! Staff maravilhoso.

Vende uma coisa e na realidade é outra

Ficamos no Island vibe por estar perto da praia, é praticamente dentro da praia isso é o único ponto positivo. O quarto que reservamos, em nada parecia com a foto, questionamos e a recepção disse que era o único quarto que tinham. Com relação ao quarto, paredes todas sujas, cama ruim, o ventilador que tinha era de padrão diferente e eles não tinham adaptador, móveis todos velhos e alguns quebrados e quarto era em outra casa, fora do hostel. Sorte que ficamos apenas uma noite. O era menos pior era o banheiro.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing that made no sense was the alcohol policy. You cannot bring your own drinks you have to buy at their bar but they don't sell what you drink or even your second choice!

Nice location, no in room wifi or hot water

Beautiful spot on the beach with great views. I paid for a beach house room with en suite. The room was advertised with free wifi. There was no wifi in the room and no hot water. When I complained to the front desk, they told me the water tank was probably being drained by the number of people staying there. If i was aware of this before i booked I wouldn't have bothered staying in the beach house.
