This is the best Hotel/Resort I ever have had the pleasure to stay and enjoy. It felt like home. You get the impression you have the place to yourself. This is by design. Absolutely stunning beauty throughout the resort. The staff is incredible, helpful, knowledgeable and so nice. The 1st words spoken to me as I exited my taxi were, "Welcome home Mr. Brenner." We were home and we will be back. 5 STARS. Put this on your bucket list folks. You won't regret it.

This is a beautiful hotel and a beautiful location. Staff was amazing and very helpful. We did have a few issues of which management and the personal assistant fixed right away. There were some issue with the plunge pool and it emptied out three days in a row, but each time I was able to get them to fix it before we even need to use it. There was also a leak in the bathroom, which was quite substantial at one . but was at the end of our state and was resolved before we left. one item that could not be fixed and just a note for fellow travelers room number 18 beautiful Hirsch floor however you will hear pump noise for about 9 AM to 7 PM from the main pool pump which is below. Not ideal by any means, especially if you’re out on the balcony. Also, the plunge pool in room 18 is not in the sun although it’s always warm outside so it was very refreshing to literally get in and out the food at the restaurant was great a good variety the smoothies and the wellness shots were my favorite. This is a great place to stay if you want to be away from it all. Proximity to play Linda is walkable or rideable on bicycles, but not if you don’t wanna sweat getting there. Ixtapa and zihua are both pretty close for shopping and eating. Zihua is a $15-$20 cab ride each way, but definitely worth it to spend there for the day. We will definitely come back here in the future.

This hotel really is something special. Beautifully designed and maintained property, built against a cliff-side with crashing surf right below. Breathtaking ocean views from every room. Private sun deck and plunge pool in room. Friendly and professional staff make you feel immediately welcome and look after your every need. Excellent restaurants and spa on site. Even the gym is spotless with a fantastic view. Would strongly recommend to the discerning traveller looking for something a little more classy.

We just finished our stay at Cala de Mar. The positives were the property itself (the location, the design of the building, the layout of the suite, the patio, the plunge pool, and the incredible views from every part of the hotel [even the gym!]) and the amazing staff (the response to requests was speedy quick and each staff member was very friendly, kind, and helpful). The negatives were the supplementary costs. My husband and our four friends all felt that the cost for food and beverages far exceeded the quality that was provided. We thought that either the quality and variety of food options would need to significantly improve to justify the cost, or the pricing would have to drop by at least half to justify what was being offered. The pricing of food items was a lot higher than what we pay for comparable items in the US or Canada. Our American friends also noted that they spent the equivalent of $70 USD for a tube of sunscreen at the resort (?). The pricing of the return airport transfer was also way overpriced. We were quoted 6400 pesos for that service, which comes out to $500 CND (!). Our friends signed up to use that service only to discover that they were put into a regular cab at the airport and were sent on their way. A regular cab should only cost 600 pesos (about $47 CND) each way. So it should have been 1200 pesos for a return service in a regular cab. Rectifying these elements would definitely push this property’s rating up to a guaranteed 5 stars.

My husband and I were looking for a private, quiet, relaxing stay that would allow us to decompress from our hectic jobs. Cala de Mar allowed us to do that with its beautiful vistas from our own private suite/plunge pool and massages. They even arranged our transportation and gave us bookable activity options during our stay. The staff are very friendly and took care of us while respecting our privacy. If you’re looking for excellent service, peace and relaxation, we highly recommend Cala de Mar.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Cala Del Mar. I cannot wait to return. It was the most romantic and luxurious stay I could have ever imagined and I have traveled all of the world and stayed in some incredible places. We came for our honeymoon and everyone there made it so special. I don't think I have ever felt that relaxed in my entire life. The rooms, the private infinity pool, the food, drinks and special amenities were just stunning. The margaritas were INCREDIBLE. Come here to just relax and soak in the most incredible view you have ever seen. Only downside is they don't have beach access. Our honeymoon was truly perfection because of this stunning resort and the incredible people that work there.

My stay at Cala de Mar in Ixtapa was truly fantastic. The room was stunning, featuring a private jacuzzi with breathtaking views, creating the perfect spot to unwind. The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff was warm and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. While the hotel is exceptional, a few improvements could elevate it further. First, gratuities are already included, but this isn’t clearly communicated, which can cause confusion. More transparency would enhance the experience. Second, while the food was decent, a more skilled chef would bring the dining to the same high standard as the rest of the hotel. Additionally, the Seafood Market restaurant’s reservation system needs improvement—despite requiring reservations, my table was given away to other guests. Another issue was room service, which often took up to an hour—a long wait for a luxury hotel. Improving efficiency here would be a great enhancement. Despite these minor issues, Cala de Mar remains an incredible destination. The breathtaking views, exceptional rooms, and welcoming atmosphere make it a wonderful place to relax. With a few refinements, it has the potential to be truly world-class. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a luxurious, peaceful, and scenic escape in Ixtapa!
