The location of La Puerta Azul is wonderful! It is on the quite stretch of island, but a brisk walk it short taxi (golf card) ride to the center. There were constructions at the hotel near but that was not bothersome. At breakfast, on multiple occasions the butter knife on the butter/ jam dish was dirty which made me think we’ve been eating the butter/jam left over from other quests. The plastic braided lounge chairs on the beach were very uncomfortable. It was such a turn off! The towels (one per person) were too small to cover the chair and you really can’t lay on these chairs without covering. The pain in the hot plastic braiding pattern indenting your body is no joke. We asked for one extra towel and were told NO! :( another turn off… The hotels around (next door) were much more appealing, comfortable lounge area, great restaurants and beach bars. We would have spent the days at La Puerta Azul if we were given an extra towel. Please get some lounge chair cushions!! Small price to pay to earn returning customers and increase revenue from your bar/ restaurant! For our next time, we’ll try a different hotel in the vicinity!

This would have had a different review but the road conditions were terrible! This is no fault of the hotel due to lack of drainage in the roads. Water is not as pretty in front of hotel

Great staff, super clean, far from town
The staff at La Puerta Azul was incredibly helpful and nice. The rooms are super clean and spacious and you have access to the beach and a restaurant at the beach. The hotel is pretty far to downtown so if you want to go out to dine and walk around town it is quite far. Taxis charge $200 pesos each way so not cheap at all. The roads were flooded from a light rain a few days before we arrived so walking to and from the hotel through the streets was not an option.

I normally don’t leave a description of my stays but…. The hotel is good valie for the money. In detail: Location: If you want peaceful beaches and your plan is to disconnect (which was my goal) the hotel location is perfect! Rooms: The room is very clean, nice and confortable, beds are a little too hard (and i like a hard bed) could use a topper or something. Beach area: Is perfect to relax, but the sun beds REALLY NEED a cushion Pool: Dont look inviting at all! And you can’t lay there as there is no sun beds Food: Great breakfast Food was good Staff: It seems like they are trained to say NO. Definitely not friendly AT ALL with solo travelers Not helpful Makes you feel completely unwanted Not the right people to work at hospitality specially the front desk staff Extras: Breakfast opens at 8:00am so it would be great if rooms had coffee machines or coffee available a bit earlier

We loved our stay and would definitely return. Everyone was so nice! The obly downfall are the very aggressive mosquitoes. Even with repellent, they are still able to bite which made our stay a little itchy. I would recommend wearing long sleeves and pants at night to help with the mosquito situation.

This was an awesome place to stay. Relaxing, clean, beach was amazing. Sunsets were absolutely stunning. Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Restaurant and bar on the beach were a bonus. The absolute best thing was by far the staff. After a few days they became like family. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They truly made my vacation special. Huge thank you to all of you. 😊

The hotel looked a lot better in the photos. The beach area was dilapidated and ugly and the pool was so small. The rooms were not very welcoming with small hard beds. And a bad location with a long golf cart ride to and from. Breakfast was good though.

What a wonderful small hotel! The beach was good and so easy to go back and forth between beach and room. The front office woman, Melania, was so very helpful with all we needed. The hammocks in the courtyard are an extra bonus.

Everything about the property was great. We were a little bit disappointed with the beach area, it was rocky going into the water and not as nice and clear as some of the other areas along the beach. Other than that, we were perfectly content with the hotel.

Slice of Paradise
This is a really private, well-maintained, and well-serviced hotel. With a private beach and excellent food at the beach club, they have a slice of paradise. Rooms are very clean, the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend and already excited to come back!

Great beachfront spot, little far from the action
Unfortunately we missed our first night due to issues with our rental car - so our room had already been given to someone else. The hotel staff were kind enough to send us over to Cabanas Coconut (without additional payment). Although it wasn't as nice as La Puerta (or at least what we saw of La Puerta's reception)...it was much better located. La Puerta is a walk from the action in the town, especially at night when the dirt roads aren't lit. You can always get a golf cart taxi, but we preferred to be closer to the restaurants and bars. Still seemed like a lovely, beachfront location!

Perfect stay at la Puerta Azul
Fantastic stay at Puerta Azul in Holbox. Accomodation is located directly at the sea and has its own beach bar with plenty of beds to enjoy the sun. The accomodation is very beautiful with spacious and super clean rooms. Staff was very friendly and accomodating at all time. Great breakfast too! This accomodation is located about 15-20 min by foot from the center, which makes for a nice walk along the beach. It’s also possible to go by taxi cart at 3-4usd.
