Could be a 5 star with a little more effort!
If only the owners would listen to the customer feedback from previous guests! All the same niggling issues stop this from getting g a 5 star rating. Dirty pots and pans, a central heating system that needed to be rebooted constantly, poor level of cleaning generally, all have been commented on by previous guests!

Overall a nice place to stay, comfortable, clean, spacious, and beautiful views. Check in process could have been better however. It was all contactless which is fine, and received emails with the code, but the emails never stated which cabin we were in. We got lucky the first one we went to was the correct one (the code worked). While we were getting situated, another couple had the same issue and could not find their cabin nor could get ahold of anyone. So while it was a nice place to stay, the check in process definitely could be better for people.

Unfortunately we found this property to be disappointing with poor quality. We still haven't heard from the owners, despite multiple attempts during a multiple night stay. The property was not as described, the photos used were of the best and most well positioned property, most other properties looked more run down like ours. The most notable disappointment about the property after no communication was the quality of the beds. Hard springs through very old mattresses made for an extremely uncomfortable sleep. The internet that owner written descriptions mentioned was available was not at all available. The property included absolutely nothing, no tea, washing powder or soap. A DVD player was available with no DVDs. I cannot recommend this property.

Overall I had an excellent stay at the brocks cottage, the cottage was very clean, communication could have been better from Expedia about what the cottage has to offer and how we would gain entry this was sent through email the day of check in. There were a few bits in the cottage that could be with fixing. There is lots to go around the area but you will need your own mode of transport.

We had a horrible sleepless night at that place because of completely unusable bed. It's beyond uncomfortable, you can't sleep on it. Top it with non-existent wifi, things here and there like dishwasher that were not working, lack of simple basic things like tea or coffee or few extra towels. Nice spot, not a bad cottage that lacks attention and love, and horrible bed that's a trash you can't sleep on. Totally overpriced!

This is a nice home and a beautiful location. I slept very soundly as it is quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately, I had two fairly significant challenges. What made these two things especially concerning is that I tried to communicate to the property manager or owner, and never received a response. First, I was never able to connect to Wi-Fi, even though that was advertised as available at this property. Secondly, I think there is an issue with the plumbing in the bathroom. There is a strong odor that appeared to me to be a combination of sewer gas and earth. I am guessing that there may be a serious leak that should be investigated. I would also recommend a deep clean as there are a number of things in the unit that are outdated and not helpful. Lovely place in a great location that just need some TLC. The bathroom odor and Wi-Fi needs attention ASAP and some steps should be taken to provide the guest with a means to communicate with the property manager. Thank you.

The property was a calm and peaceful haven that was also within short driving distance of many lovely places to visit and explore. Dedicated parking by the front door was also a bonus. However, the drive up the hillside to get there was a little bit challenging.

We read other reviews after booking and panicked. There was no need as we had a lovely stay at bcc cottages. Its not advertised as a 5 star Lodge so you get what you book. The cottage has a stunning view, it is 15 to 20 min drive from Inverness but a gorgeous drive. The cottage was clean enough, the dishwasher as we had read doesn't work but everything else did. The cottage was lovely and cosy when we arrived and heated up to roasting if the heaters was on. The beds were comfy. Like I said it's not 5 star luxury stay but it's a clean cottage with stunning views. Donald was quick to respond and check in was easy. Inverness is one of the most beautiful places in Scotland.

Was a really nice cottage beautiful views beds were uncomfortable, oven didn’t work, coffee machine didn’t work, dish washer didn’t work, not enough towels or dish towels, need to bring everything with you including bin bags, sponges etc nothing in cottages. would go back but perhaps make sure everything working first.

Lovely cottage settee’s comfy but a bit low as was the bed. The shower head and rail needs attention as the water was so powerful it tends to spray everywhere. Apart from that and the frying pan dirty in the cupboard it was a lovely short stay. I would book again. Thank you

ok place, not luxury by any means however. main bed was quite awful on one side with springs that felt were coming through. Place inside was relatively clean, although we had to clean down sofas on our arrival ourselves. outside seating area very basic. whole place could do with a good tidy up

Beautiful retreat
Beautiful hide away. Near Drumnadrochit. Fabulous views from the house. Only down side is., no condiments in the house or welcome pack. So had to go to nearby shop to purchase. Which wasn't a problem as was still open when we arrived. Will be back.

I wasn't too sure when we pulled up what we were in for. When we walked into our cottage it was absolutely awesome even has a washing machine and dryer as well as a full kitchen spa in the bath. Floors are creeky but it adds to the charm. Bed is a little uncomfy but apart from that I'd stay there again.

Spacious and useful amenities. Too bad about the water main break, but it was repaired fast and we were informed well when I contacted staff. No Wifi in the cottage or TV channels so the advert is a bit deceptive. Did not know the youth hostel is the location of these.

nice cottage but badly needs a refurb
we arrived early and let into the cottage ,then told that the internet was down inn the properties ,which stayed down all week. the cottage was clean and tidy . the beds very comfortable. the only real issues was the water in the shower was hot ,in fact it was too hot and the tap was broken so you had trouble lowering the temperature also the heating was playing up and kept playing up or turning itself off ; ,we did a lovely few days in the cottage it just needs a bit of tlc

Very disappointing. Lovely setting, but a myriad of problems (unclear arrival instructions, no wi-fi, broken dishwasher, electric heaters kept turning off, electricity went off (had to have money top-up to restart), no instructions, broken tap in shower, missing light globes,only 1/2 roll toilet paper provided etc), led us to leave after only one night (we had booked for 2). A phone call and a couple of follow up emails to the manager to discuss our experience have been ignored. All in all, the worst accommodation experience we had in Scotland. Avoid.

The cottage was really good and located 6.5 miles away from the main lochness road. The place is suitable for very quite ppl and doesn't suit who wants to go out in the night or looking for any shop.

It's a spacious, lovely and a very quiet property ideal for a family getaway but unfortunately it was not clean and smelled awful especially the master bedroom when we entered. The utensils were not washed and there was no provision to clean them as well. The sign boards to the location could have been more visible and easier to navigate.

BCC Red Deer Cottage was a pleasure
The two-bedroom cottage was surprisingly large and comfortable. After a very easy check-in at the main BCC building nearby (serving the hostel and cottages alike), it was a simple drive up the dirt & gravel driveway to the Red Deer cottage.. one of a few cottages nearby. The views were lovely, and it was rather private.. while I heard the occasional car head up to cottages further up the hill, I never heard a sound from any visitors. A short drive to attractions around Loch Ness and Glen Affric. While not a major feature of interest to us, the satellite tv worked well. There was no wifi in the cottage itself, although there is wifi available in the common building at the base of the hill. However, the cellular signal (we were on the Three network) was fine for data/phone access. Ample bath towels, kitchen dishes & utensils, and clean bed linens. Cheerful and bright. I would happily stay here again if passing through the Loch Ness area again.
