Quick stop right outside the national park. Clean room, friendly service and went smoothly. Will stay again if we come back to the Badlands.

We loved the location so close to the Bad Lands and the Ben Reifel Center, great views and wonderful to sit outside with coffee in the morning. That being said, realize the food options are few and expensive. Luckily we brought some food-- but there is no microwave or refrigerator (my oversight) so our options were very limited. We ended up eating at a local restaurant. splitting meals and planning to eat some of our snacks-- still $50 for 3 (2 adults 3 kids) meals. Room was average-- it did have a couch/living room area which was nice but the overall updates/amenities/cleanliness was average for all the other places we've stayed. Would consider staying again but plan better for meals and lack of laundromat.

While no one can deny that the location is incredible, the Morel left a lot to be desired. We were on a road trip and I was not expecting any incredible, but the actual facility was laughable. We checked and were told that the front desk would be closing in 30 minutes at 8. I felt very rushed out of there like they just wanted to close. I was informed breakfast would not be served the next day as the cook needed a day off. Upon reading further reviews, this was a common thread. If you offer breakfast, road trippers often times depend on those meals being available, especially in a place as isolated as there. I had no option for breakfast for my family. Closest being 4 miles away in the opposite direction. I get that the cook needs a day off, but make it clear the days you are open and hold to that so people can prepare. The other issue, was the camp store itself was so poorly stocked it’s not like I had much other options.the room itself felt pretty dingy, but I was expecting that. I was not howeve, expecting my very own hook designated solely for the purpose of holding a fly swatter. That was a not so fun addition. The other unpleasant component cane when I was sitting out front and saw a mouse run into the slats of the wall by my room only to be stalked by a cat for 30 minutes. I then proceeded to hear the scratching of the mouse in the wall through the night. All in all, not a great place. But location is king, I guess.

Superb location but this is a very dated property and is in desperate need of a facelift. The location saved it but the bathroom is could have been cleaner and the bedsheets on one of my beds didn’t appear clean. I slept on the other bed so made do but this is a very basic accommodation. Breakfast wasn’t available due to staff day off which was unfortunate because there is nowhere around to eat really! Basic accommodation just proceed with caution.

This property was was NOT AS ADVERTISED! I booked based on the high rating and have never been so disappointed. Advertised as having a bar and restaurant on site. In reality - no bar, the restaurant only serves breakfast and only 8-10 and only on certain days. Given that this property is fairly remote ( which I knew) this is a real problem. I was counting on the restaurant. The room had an ice bucket but upon inquiry I was told that there was no ice machine, but I could purchase ice in the store. There was a pool, but it was closed indefinitely for maintenance. The room had been cleaned but the cleanser used was mixed way to strong ( my husband and I have both worked in the business) and the smell was overwhelming. Even after leaving the window and doors open it was still making us both sick. The bathroom sink faucet lose and the handle was coming off. A serious disappointment and seriously overpriced for what little you get.

Unusual retro motel, hotel and camp grounds just outside the entrance to Badlands in Interier SD. Also close to Badlands visitor center with ranger talks. We went to night sky talk at dusk. Very Cool. We love the dated 50s look and enjoy a swim in the pool on a hot day. Friendly accomodating staff. Clean rooms. A step back in time.
