"Room was excellent. It seemed new or nearly new. Bathroom was very clean. It has a kitchen, which was also very clean. Loved the comfortable mattress, but I like fluffy, pillow top soft mattresses. For a remote place in Alaska, this hotel is probably the cleanest and best I have personally experienced at this price point. Airport shuttle provides free ride. Two-three blocks to tour busses at Harrigan Centennial Hall. Hotel has no restaurant. Highlander coffee shop is updated, clean and modern and is located directly across the street...also Wildflower Cafe and Bakery for food and drinks, but it is closed on Monday and Tuesdays. They are not kidding about the best burger at Sitka's Burger and Crab Shack, also across the street. Amazing bun. I had the Sitka burger and loved it. Worth the wait in line. Go at 11:30am and maybe no line. Residents don't like tourists to jaywalk...it may be dangerous. Take a left out of the front entrance and walk to the crosswalk. For dinner, I recommend Bayview Pub a couple block walk from the hotel. Suburb homemade New England clam chowder and also the halibut filet was thick, amazing, and fresh. We decided not to get anything breaded on the menu, except we splurged with sweet potato fries, which were delicious. If you like hiking, get a ride to the trail to Beaver Lake in the Tongass...about a two-to-three-hour hike, close to town. Don't miss Fortress of the Bear. Bears have three habitats including wilderness to romp and roam."
