Ilig-Iligan Beach is a tranquil sandy haven a little removed from the hustle and bustle of better-known spots. It is perfect for those seeking comfort and utter relaxation against the lone sounds of the waves and rustling palm trees. Feel the soft, powdery white sand on the souls of your feet as you stroll leisurely from one end to the other.
The beach is a quiet alternative to the popular White Beach but it has relatively few amenities. Lay down a blanket on the sand and enjoy a picnic with your family. Capture photos of scenic cliffs flanking the stretch of white, fluffy sand.
Note the range of hues of blue signifying varying depths in the sea. Go for a swim in the clear blue-green water to cool down between sessions of sunbathing. Rent or purchase snorkeling gear from one of the island’s many resorts and dive into the transparent water to see the colorful fish gathering around the rocks and coral.
Swim around the cliff at the southern end of the beach to reach the secluded bays which rarely draw crowds. Get to the second hidden beach by walking along the rocks along the water.
Play with your kids in the caves and coves adorning the northern side of the beach. Embark on the trails leading into the dense forest here and appreciate the range of exotic flora and fauna. Fruit bats hang from the trees in the afternoon until sunset, when they fly into the night.
Try seafood from one of the two locally run restaurants. Note that they charge a small fee for use of the restrooms.
Ilig-Iligan Beach lies on the eastern flank of Boracay Island. It is just off of the main highway in the northern district of Yapak. Access it via motorbike or bicycle or on foot. Make sure to see nearby landmarks, such as Lapuz Lapuz Beach, Ride the Zorb and Puka Beach.
