Charming village location when I booked I thought we were in st Ives town but glad we were in Houghton as did a lovely circular walk to st Ives from here. Full of character this pub was cosy and welcoming. Great breakfast too.
Lovely warm welcome. Reasonably priced bar. Great setting. Historic ambience. Would definitely like to stay again.

Basic accomodation
My stay was OK. The room was comfortable and the breakfast I had was decent. They were only able to provide breakfast on one morning but refunded some money to compensate. The place is dated with uneven floors which may be an issue for some people. The decor and furniture are well used but clean.
Ok for an odd night stay in a pretty village but nothing special.
The pub is situated in the heart of the village.
Leanne was really helpful and was really good interacting with eveyone.
Breakfast was nicely cooked.
Would happily stay again
Charming property. Very quaint. All rooms have sloping ceilings and little windows. Difficult to sleep in the heat. The team are very attentive and welcoming.
Booking in was fine shown to room, room and bathroom does need attention, Not really a suite , but large room with double bed and a single in it. sloping roofs made for uncomfortable experience and cramped bathroom . Breakfast excellent, no food on night due to private function
We were visiting family and we have two dogs, the location was perfect and the pub was old, quirky but ideal for our purposes. It was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and our host couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we needed. We did take our own dog cage so that the dogs did not get on the bed, which I think is courteous The bell in the square outside was a bit annoying as it chimed every hour.
Nice pub, booked in sat evening at 1900, meals closed at 1930, went to a pub down the road for a meal great night, room nice, shower didnt work, and the bar shut at 21.00, so we took a drink to our room, the picture on expedia web site isnt the picture of the pub which is a bit misleading
Although all staff very friendly our room was not made up when we arrived. Also be aware a private bathroom does not mean en-suite as it was a short walk walk past another room which had en-suite. Meant to be private but can’t leave items in there just in case.also other guests walk past it.
Our experience was great. Landlord and Landlady were very accommodating towards my wife’s food allergy and ran a friendly bar.
For the critics (mostly on other sites) – yes it is old, which I would call character and uniqueness, and in keeping with the countryside area that it is situated in.
We will be back.
Site showed check in at 5 p.m. We arrived at 12:30 on Tuesday hoping to leave our luggage and walk around village or sit in their pub until check in time. Unfortunately, we got there and everything was locked up! We walked across road to a store and found out they don't open u til 5 on Mondays and Tuesdays!! We tried calling but received no answer. We had to drag our luggage down the road and sit in another pub until we finally got a hold of someone. Had to wait until 3 then had to drag everything back to the inn. Very disappointed that they didn't reach out to us to advise us on this! Rooms are very tiny and the bed was too hard.

The evening meal was very poor but breakfast a lot better.
The room was heated until just after 11 pm but did not reheat until 7.30 am. The bedding was just about adequate but of lower quality.
Service and hospitality was very good.

Loverly friendly traditional pub 😁
Stayed there on business for 3 nights, found the staff very welcoming and friendly, the facilities and room were very good considering the price, good parking facilities, very nice breakfast and ate there each night in the bar, locals very friendly and had a great time, I’m booking up again on my next trip,
A quaint pub in a picturesque village with comfortable bars and a restaurant with a decent selection. The room was comfortable, warm and clean, with all the facilities you would expect (tv, toiletries, hairdryer etc). You have to remember the age of the building - so some floors aren't quite level, some ceilings are low, and some of the doors have low lintels - but it all adds to the general ambiance and quirkiness. The breakfast was superb - full English with tea and toast, and the hosts were helpful and friendly.

Helpful and friendly staff. A top cooked breakfast, no filter/ cafetière coffee, but generous pot of tea. Quaint and characterful accommodation. Tall people may find the bathroom facilities a challenge, but it was not an issue for us. Evening meal was tasty, red wine very drinkable. The property is well located for exploring the lovely Hemingfords and St Ives. Very good value for money.
Quirky room with low ceilings and bathroom along the corridor (private though). Clock in the square chimes every hour! Host was very pleasant and breakfast good. Cannot comment on the evening meal as they had stopped serving by the time we got back. Pleasant stay and ideal location for what we needed.
Lovey, local, traditional English pub in a beautiful, friendly village complete with thatched cottages and a national trust owned mill for fabulous walks. Was just me and my dog on our way to a show but I was given such a friendly welcome and had a very pleasant evening eating a lovely meal in the bar.
