Find charming restaurants and beautiful buildings hidden among the main streets in the heart of the city.

Discover the hidden delights of Hue City Centre. Haggle for bargains in local stores, taste spicy dishes in side street cafés and visit attractions such as the oldest school in Vietnam. Learn about the local area with a visit to the Cultural Centre or simply step back and soak up the atmosphere in this exciting cluster of streets.

Find Hue City Centre at the point where Hung Vuong Street, Dong Da Street and Ha Noi Street converge. In addition to functioning as a busy commercial district, the area also contains interesting attractions, with stylish colonial buildings dotted among the modern stores and homes.

Join one of the many guided tours of the city that start from this area. One of the first attractions you will pass is the Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted. This 19th-century colonial school close to the Truong Tien Bridge was created to train children from royal and noble families. This is still a working school so you cannot enter during teaching hours however, the striking contrast of the red building among leafy green trees is well worth a look from outside the grounds.

Walk along Hung Vuong Street to reach the Cultural Centre (Nhà Văn hoá Trung tâm). The centre holds many local events such as art exhibitions and musical performances. Ask inside to find out what events coincide with your visit.

From here, walk northwest in the direction of Ha Noi Street. Tucked away on connecting Nguyen Tri Phuong are a number of charming restaurants. Taste spicy local dishes at excellent prices.

Once you’ve eaten, explore the area’s shops and markets, where you can buy everything from tailored suits to fresh local produce.

To reach the centre of Hue, go along Hung Vuong Street toward the Perfume River. Several bus routes run along the road in either direction throughout the day and into the evening.
