Helsinki

If you are in Helsinki, Finland, you have to try a sauna! It's a fantastic way to relax after a long day of visiting the city.

Getting completely naked amidst a group of strangers may sound intimidating, but it's really not such a big deal once you do it. Locals enjoy meeting their friends at the sauna for a chat, much like I might meet up with my friends for a coffee at home. There's nothing sexual about it, and men and women have separate saunas. Even though it can be a bit strange for visitors at first, once you relax the sauna is a wonderfully enjoyable experience.

You sit in the hot, dark room until it gets too warm to bear. Then, you duck out for a quick cooling shower, or a roll in the snow if it's winter! You can also play games or have a beer with your friends outside in between steaming sessions. Finish off with a long shower and a shot of vodka for the complete experience!
