Hedmark is a county with plentiful scenery and mighty rivers. You can ski in Trysil, fish in the Glomma River and explore the vast forests on foot.
Like so many other counties in Norway, Hedmark is overflowing with beautiful scenery. There are many ways to explore the great outdoors and, in winter, Trysil is a popular destination for many. Fishing is another great way to experience the great outdoors and Hedmark attracts keen fishers to both the Glomma and Renaelva (Rena River). If you like to stay active Finnskogen (Finn Forest) is a nice place to take a stroll.
Go to Trysil if you are only on a winter weekend trip to Hedmark. SkiStar Trysil is the Trysil ski resort and has over 30 lifts and about 70 kilometres of ski runs. In other words, the slopes are suitable for all skiing levels and of course, there is the après-ski to enjoy after a day on the slopes.
If fishing is one of your hobbies, head to one of the fishing grounds along the Glomma or Renaelva. In addition, the grounds in these rivers are known for their excellent fishing and they are also generally easy to get to. What’s better than bringing trout and perch home after a holiday in Hedmark?
Finnskogen is a forest that lies partly in Norway and partly in Sweden. Finnskogleden (The Finn Forest Path) runs through Finnskogen and is a marked trail that stretches over 240 km. It gives you a good opportunity to experience this exciting area, which has an extensive history.
If you are fan of Flåklypa Grand Prix, head to Aukrustsenteret (The Aukrust Centre) during your holiday in Hedmark. The fantasy world, drawings and paintings of Kjell Aukrust are produced at Aukrustsenteret. You can also view a model of “Il Tempo Gigante” and meet Solan and Ludvig from the film.
If you love skiing or fishing, a fan of Aukrust’s fantasy world, or simply enjoy walks in the woods, Hedmark is a wonderful travel destination for you. The county has many nice towns to explore, with Hamar being the largest. It’s nice to visit Hedmark in both summer and winter, so take a seat and plan your trip today!
