This is a lovely spacious hotel, the room was clean and the hospitality tray well stocked. The location was convenient for town and the conference centre. There is good parking facilities but we felt it a shame that they charge guests for parking. The staff were all helpful and friendly. We had the breakfast and that offered lots of choice and was nice. We would return again as the positives outweighed the one negative.

the parking should be free of charge for the guest
Comfortable, large room. Plenty of parking in the large gardens. Excellent buffet breakfast in the magnificent dining room. Central Harrogate, Valley Gardens all within 5 minutes walk from hotel. Courteous staff.
Lovely Oldy worldly hotel - love the period charm about it. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Main reception areas have been sympathetically updated, modern but in keeping with the hotels charm and ambience. Breakfast was excellent, lots to choose from and hot. Close proximity to the centre, 5 minute stroll away. A good place to stay in Harrogate. Would certainly stay again.
Everything was excellent except we had a noisy neighbour on the first night on a redundant (locked off )connected room due to door letting in to much sound
Loved staying in the hotel where Agatha Christie stayed. Lots of character, including the lovely dining room, art deco stair carpet and vintage lift. Hoping to return for another visit.

Although it was very clean, the room was dated and cluttered with a TV standing on a table ....the bed wasn't great....when my husband sat on the bed i was almost bounced out. Breakfast was very good and the staff we met were nice apart from one waitress at breakfast who didn't seem to want to be there. Location is very good
I love the atmosphere of The Swan. Staff are always friendly, please always clean and food first class.

Comfort
We had a peaceful, blissfully warm room and although there was a wedding party in the hotel we heard nothing of it in our room and enjoyed a relaxing stay.
This is a lovely, characterful hotel and I do hope it escapes the perils of ‘modernisation’!
Best hotel breakfast we have enjoyed for a long time
Everything nicely prepared everything hot and well presented
Well done the old white swan staff and management
The Hotel itself is lovely, lots of old features that you dont see in modern hotels .The glass ceiling in the breakfast room is amazing. The only let down is there are no coffee/tea facilities in the rooms and for the price you would expect it.
Breakfast was lovely, didn’t know about the £10 a day parking fee it would have been nice to have prior knowledge but all in all, convenient for town centre and lovely lobby all decorated for Christmas
We were looking for a good hotel, near to Exhibition Centre
The Old Swan Hotel fitted the the bill very well.
Reception Staff - pleasant and efficient
Dining Staff - pleasant and efficient
Bar - no used
Public areas clean and well presented
Bedroom - good size and clean.
Floor tiles in bathroom a little uneven, grouting missing
and one tile a bit loose.
Parking - plenty of spaces.
Exterior of hotel, with weather conditions, lots of leaves
on ground - this could be hazardous as they become slippy.- and area of exterior paintwork in front of hotel needs maintenance attention
The hotel is well positioned to enjoy the town, it is historical, not your standardised room and as such all are different. This time we had a strange room, large entry way with a door to either bedroom or bathroom - strange! Comfy bedroom, small bathroom, buffet breakfast uninspiring but ok.
Will return…
Lovely stay after a ball held in hotel which as also excellent. Didnt have time to look round harrogate which is also fantastic as i have done that before.
This is quite an old hotel. My room was sparse but clean enough. The bed very soft and the pillows a little small.
The bathroom was tiny and the drains in the sink and the bath/shower didn't work very at all.
Overall it felt a little like going back in time but for the price it was ok.
We had an enjoyable 3 night stay. The hotel was very comfortable and a good location for exploring Harrogate town centre. We would have liked to have dined in the hotel on one night of our stay unfortunately we underestimated how busy the hotel might be and the night we wanted was fully booked. Otherwise all our needs were met. I also noted that staff were very attentive and offered appropriate support to other guests who had disabilities.
We stayed in room 149 and we had noise from the kitchen most of the night and in the morning. Bathroom sink, the plug didnt keep water in. My teacup at breakfast was dirty. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and very tasty. Bed was comfortable. All staff were very efficient and friendly.
All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Good central option
Good hotel. Excellent location. Whilst not luxury, perfectly OK. Quiet room at the back of the hotel. £10 parking not too bad considering very difficult to park in Harrogate. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but walkable to loads of good restaurants.
Our stay was ok, nothing exceptional, I was disgusted at being charged £10 to park my car, don’t know if this is the normal these days, just seems a rip off to me, as was the £30 breakfast.
Stayed here for 1 night for evening in Harrogate and expected good things, give the reviews and pictures. Hotel itself was nice but the room was an utter disappointment. in a few words it is very tired, give the £160 price I was expecting something nice. Not an old carpet, double bed, soulless room, peeling paint and a broken sink. Shame as the breakfast and staff are lovely.
